Large paws kicked up small puffs of dirt as the dark red lioness threaded the outskirts of the abandoned human village. She'd been through here many of time, despite being made by humans very little of them could still be smelled here and so nature had moved back in. The place was a haven for small animals and so when one was looking for a snack this area was the best for hunting. She hadn't quite caught what she was looking for yet but she'd scented plenty of rabbits in this area already, just smoking them out was the key. Her ruby orbs covered the ground below her, her head dipped low and to the ground. She knew this place by heart by now and didn't bother to look up while she walked. She had no need to.
Her head suddenly jerked up when she caught a flash of movement and without hesitation she was loping after the rabbit. Her feet carried her fast towards a hut, where the animal had disappeared and fortunately cornered itself. It didn't take her long to kill the rabbit but before she could bite into it she scented another lion. Her quick lope took her to the wall of the hut and without think she employed one of her inherited skills, climbing. Her claws dug into the old wood and carried her slowly but surely up to the roof with the rabbit clenched in her teeth. Once up there she crouched and hunkered down as low as she could looking for the other lion.
Surely they'd show themselves once they smelled the dead rabbit, if her luck was bad it was a lowlander and if it was good then it was one of her own pride. She hadn't bothered to linger long enough to scent the other lion out completely, she was no cowards but she wasn't confrontational either. Especially if she could avoid it simply by climbing and waiting the other lion out. [/size]

[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote][/url] Siri hadn't noticed her following her, which she found nothing short of lucky on her part. She wasn't the greatest ninja, but she sure knew how to track. It was no surprise when she found Siri sitting atop a human building with her prize. She cursed herself for revealing her scent and ruining this beautiful game she had created for herself.
Without hesitation or a second thought, she leaped out from the undergrowth a few feet from one of the human structures. Her claws caught fur and flesh and she quickly and surgically bit the nerve on the neck so that the animal's lifeline was severed. She smirked.
"Gotcha."
She picked up the groundhog in her mouth and hopped up onto the top of the structure with Siri. "Looks like we both got us a snack." She chuckled and began ripping the skin off her catch. Legend: Thoughts"My words""Others' words"

The red lioness almost jumped out of her skin and fell from her perch on the shack roof when Arra suddenly appeared next to her. The grey lioness had a groundhog in her mouth and a friendly air about her, Siri wasn't the most knowledgeable about her Pride but she knew that Arra was typically friendly and kind. Except maybe to Maliki but that couldn't be helped with his womanizing ways, of which she'd managed to slink under his radar for the most part. Siri gave the other lioness a shy smile and ducked her head, her ears flicked back for a moment humbly before they opened again. The words and chuckle made Siri relax slightly and she let out a nervous laugh herself, "I guess you're right, were you...uh...following me the whole time?" she asked sheepishly.
She hadn't even noticed the other lioness following her and she felt sheepish and young now. Not that she was young by any standards, she was freshly turned five this season, she was supposed to be seasoned and mature. Her tail swept in agitation against the roof and she glanced off towards the plains, she had to wonder if anyone had followed them but she doubted it and she relaxed but only a little. "So what are you doing away from the pride Arra? I usually see you laughing with everyone, not off on your own like me" she muttered sheepishly and hung her head batting at her food. Her mother would have been appalled.

[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote][/url] "I guess you're right, were you...uh...following me the whole time?" She chuckled, shaking her head. "Yep. I was actually surprised I could follow you that long!"
She dipped her head and ripped off a peice of meat. "So what are you doing away from the pride Arra? I usually see you laughing with everyone, not off on your own like me." Once she finished chewing, she replied, "You'd be surprised. While not entirely anti-social, I do like being by myself a lot of the time." She licked some blood off of her paw. "It gives a lioness time to think." Her thoughts exspanded to the past days' events.

Siri couldn't help but feel slightly mortified when Arra cheerfully admitted she'd been following her. The red lioness had been so wrapped up in her thoughts, daydreams and then hunt to even notice the gray lioness slipping along behind her. Some huntress she was. She winced but forced a timid smile, "O-Oh well you did a good job, I never even noticed you!" she admitted and tried to put a brightness into her tone to hide the embarrassment. She took a moment to bury her muzzle in her kill and actually eat some of it, she might as well get to it before the sun warmed it enough to make the taste turn sour.
When Siri lifted her head it was to listen to Arra answer her question about why she was away from the rest of the Pride. She had never noticed the lioness on her own a lot but that was most likely because she herself spent so little time in the thick of them. She was more off on the fringes of things than right in the middle of them, hiding in trees or tracking something maybe even daydreaming about what her life would be like if she was bolder. She shifted her spotted flanks slightly and cocked her head a little to the side curiously at the far away look in the other lioness's eyes. Perhaps her answer had been a bit more loaded than Siri had anticipated it would be, or maybe her question had been coincidentally rather deep.
"I understand completely, I do that sometimes...well...all the time" she laughed softly shaking her head with a genuine smile. She made a brow raising expression at the other female and decided she would ask, "Is there...anything you want to talk about? I'm a good listener, j-just a horrible speaker" she forced a nervous laugh out but it was true. She was terrible with words unless she was quoting a philosophy or a random fact she'd learned, they calmed her unlike normal speaking when it came to others. Sometimes it felt like a curse, especially when she managed to embarrass herself by babbling non stop.

[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote][/url] Some expression crossed Siri's face, a look of panic and embarrassment. She felt rather guilty for forcing Siri to come to terms with her space-out, she had just wanted to see how long it took for Siri to notice her. "O-Oh well you did a good job, I never even noticed you!" Her smile was obviously faked, but she didn't comment on it.
At her spacey answer, Siri replied, "I understand completely, I do that sometimes...well...all the time." They laughed together, Arra because she thought Siri's joke was half funny and because she could understand why she would make a joke about her traits, perhaps ones she didn't like. Arra did so herself some of the time. It's not that she intended to change, it's that others may find her ways of doing things a little strange, thus worth a joke. Siri's jokes continued, "Is there...anything you want to talk about? I'm a good listener, j-just a horrible speaker." Arra chuckled halfheartedly. The joke was still just as funny, but her mind was preoccupied with with Siri's provocation.
There was a silence, perhaps half a minute, where she pondered if she should tell Siri or not. That way I wouldn't have to tell the pride, it would spread throughout. She hated sympathy, as well as announcing to a large mass of lions bad news. "My family has left the Highlands. One of my brothers have caught a sickness, but there wasn't a cure here." She paused, "So they went searching for one."
She realized the second after she said it that she also hated turning the conversation to herself.

Siri was comforted by the other lioness laughing along with her in a friendly manner. It was a defense mechanism, this making fun of herself but she'd grown comfortable with it, far more comfortable than allowing others to beat her to it. When Arra went silent however Siri shifted slightly so that she could watch her carefully and attentively. Her eyes were soft already but when Arra broached the subject here eyes widened before softening again into something apologetic. "I'm sorry Arra, that's terrible but...well at least they've went to find the cure. They'll return won't they, I'm sure they will and then you'll have them all back whole and healthy" she didn't even fully believe her optimism here but she was only saying what she thought Arra would want to hear. She knew it was what she herself would have wanted to hear if she were in the grey lioness's place.
She suddenly got to her feet and glanced around the silent area, "M-Maybe you just n-need something to do while they're gone. Y-You could be...uh..." Friend seemed to strong a word here but partner sounded too formal. The red and spotted lioness thought for a moment before giving a shy smile in Arra's direction, "We could be...hunting partners? O-Or you could help me with t-this?" she said dipping her head and frowning at her stuttering. It really was becoming a problem as of late and she didn't know anyone else who did it, she was even more of an anomaly now. "Not that you have to I just thought...you might want something...err...well a distraction but you don't have to" she added hastily.
Now that she'd said it she realized how silly and desperate she sounded. The grey lioness probably thought she was an idiot or even worse insensitive or something. "And I won't tell anyone about your family" she added in a mumble scraping her paw against the dusty roof and keeping her eyes fixed on her larger than average paws.

[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote][/url] She heard a lot of mumbling, distant, about how her family would return, healthy and all. She had been continually trying to convince herself of that ever since, unsuccessfully. She nodded at Siri, half numb. She blinked at her, surprised, when she began to mumble and stutter.
"M-Maybe you just n-need something to do while they're gone. Y-You could be...uh..." Pause. "We could be...hunting partners? O-Or you could help me with t-this?" Gesture. "Not that you have to I just thought...you might want something...err...well a distraction but you don't have to."
She smiled, amused by her nervousness. "I'd love to, friend."
"And I won't tell anyone about your family." She winced inwardly at the subjects inevitable turn back to her family. She shrugged. "Honestly, I couldn't care less who knows. I'm not a fan of being a herald of bad news."
