The day was hot and sticky, the sun of the savannah hung high above the horizon. The wind whistled through the tall grass, around Pride Rock and over the few trees. Walking towards the border was a young lioness, and not just any lioness. Oh no, she was royalty. She was all that. She was Kiara, the beautiful, the cute and smart mouthed princess. Her eyes were empty of emotion for a moment as she stopped and stared at the rock. Suddenly a flicker of light came to her eyes, a slow and steady smile made its way to her maw. Beyond the rock was a log, which went over the gorge and river... Right into the Outlands. And it was just beyond that log where she had fallen and ran right into the snarling, tough acting Kovu. He had not known all the things she had, which still made her feel pretty smart and intelligent. Sometimes she would razz him that he did not know what tag was back then, nor how to have real fun. And right over there was the place where Zira had died. Kiara sighed, her eyes closing tightly shut.
"Kovu, where are you?" She said softly to herself. Her love was not around yet, and she missed him, despite the fact that he lived in the same pride as him. That awful dad of hers had actually banished him! It had taken him forever to see the true Kovu, the one that Kiara had seen almost right away, right from the time she tried to play tag with him. Her eyes opened narrowly, she uttered a "Pssh.. Who cares about "daddy." Not me! He betrayed Kovu, and me too..." She felt a pang in her gut. He was still her dad, but somehow.. she didn't feel the same as she used to. Never had she thought he would betray her like that, and it still hurt.
Her eyes wandered to Pride Rock, and she let out a soft chortle. Emitting a louder one, it was a distinct call for Kovu. It soon turned into a roar, a nice, loud, roar of her longing to see him.. Lately something had changed in her... She no longer was daddy's little girl.. Instead she wanted to be closer to Kovu, and longed for something more... She wanted Kovu to be all hers, and something shared between them.. The joining of beings, and the bond of cubs... Yes.. She wanted cubs...

The cool shade of Pride Rock was a relief in the hot savannah sun. The dark lion was relaxing with Simba on the edge of the shadows, over-looking the Pride lands with a strange serenity. Kovu glanced up at Simba, nodding his head to the words that Simba was giving him. Suddenly a sound reached his ears and a grin broke across his dark muzzle. Simba chuckled softly as Kovu jumped to his feet, eager to meet his love. "Looks like someone's a bit impatient with you Kovu" Simba said with a knowing smile. Kovu chuckled before he lifted a large paw and turned his way to wards the sound of Kiara's roar. He rushed down the steep path enjoying the way the breeze lifted his mane and cooled his body, despite the energy of moving.
It was nice to feel his muscles stretching underneath his dark fur and he briefly closed his gleaming eyes to enjoy the wind on his face. It didn't take long for the lion to get to Kiara and he slowed as he approached her lighter form. A soft smile crossed his face and he couldn't help but butt his head lightly against her shoulder in a greeting. "Kiara" He breathed lightly. "I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier, I was talking with your father" He took a step back to look at her, then noticing where she was standing. A look crossed his face, something between regret and anger. Zira had trained him mercilessly, expecting him to be a monster that he couldn't possibly be. But she had also raised him as her own. The hurt and disbelief that Zira showed when Nuka was killed had shown Kovu that perhaps Zira did care. But he couldn't seem to forgive her.
He looked down into the gorge, towards the way the logs had damed up and where Nuka had lost his life. The older lion had been a brother to him, despite the intense dislike that Kovu was 'the chosen one'. He felt a pang in his heart for the loss of life. Turning away he looked back at Kiara, a soft smile coming to his face. "How are you?" He spoke softly like he didn't want to disturb any resting souls.

The memories were hard for Kovu, this Kiara knew well. She delt with it as time wore on. She had rarely seen Nuka, and knew that this was where he had died.. Where Kovu had witnessed him die, and be blamed for it. She was told that Zira had given him his scar after blaming him, then he had come back and been banished. It made her feel awful to know that he had been through so much. She still remembered his words "Maybe there's a monster in me."
But she knew better, and knew that he was no monster. As he approached, he told her that he had been with her father. A pang of emotion came to her, and she shoved it away. Then she thought about cubs, and as he asked how she was, she could see the pain in his face. Yet he smiled, strong as ever. Her eyes glimmered softly with knowing, she had always had the good life, but she knew he had not. A soft understanding was between them, knowing that she reserved judgement for his previous life. He was her love, her one and only. She would be with him forever.
Then she looked at him and smiled, "I'm good." She started, then continued with a smile, tackling him much the same as her mother had done to her father... "I'd like to have cubs.." She said softly and gave him a lick to the cheek. "And try to remember, dear.. this is where we met.. Right over there across that log. Also the place where our two prides made peace..." She smiled, leaning in, "And the place where we fell in love..." Nuzzling him softly, she laid down on his chest.
Her eyes closed, she laid her right ear against his chest, listening to his heart beat. Strong, steady, fast paced. She felt her own heart racing against her chest. She had never lost herself to him yet, and this was a big step. She wanted to be sure he wanted to lose that innocent part of himself and have cubs with her. But somehow she knew, or assumed, that he would be willing and eager. She knew his pain, but it was a bittersweet joy for her, just to think about cubs.

Her spoken words of cubs shot a thrill down Kovu's spine. Cubs? The two of them had been mates for a while now and they had always wanted a family, but now? His ears bent back and he looked away for a moment. "What if I'm not all that they expect me to be?" He murmured quietly more to himself than anything. Cubs would be something he had always hoped for. His eyes snapped back to Kiara's and after a moment of staring into her own pair of eyes he smiled. Gently he licked her cheek before nuzzling her neck. "Of course I want cubs, I want to be a family" He smiled at her, rolling the both of them over so he was standing on top of her. "Are you ready for them Kiara?" He asked quietly, his mane drapping down to cover thier faces from the outside while his nose leaned down to touch against hers.

Her eyes fell shut for a moment, she thought she heard him murmer something, but she was not sure. She could sense the hesitation, but was that not to be expected? Wasn't he supposed to be hesitant? After all, it was a big deal, wasn't it supposed to be thought over first? But as he said, "Of course I want cubs." And looked deeply into her eyes, she felt all worries fall away. "I want to be a family." She giggled, "We already are, the whole pride.. we are just adding to our own to it..." And then he gently tackled her, his mane all around her, covering part of his face, his scar. She did not feel scared in the least, in fact she felt rather excited and thrilled. Emotions rushed t hrough her. "Are you ready for them, Kiara?" He spoke to her, and his nose touched hers... She licked his nose cutely and said, "You bet.." With that she flipped him onto his back, started the process... and so it began...
-some time later-
Her breathing was heavy, her eyes mad with passion. Sweat was laced on the tips of her fur, but she was smiling from ear to ear. She licked herself clean, then looked to him lovingly. "You were amazing.. And our cubs.. they'll be beautiful.. " She smiled, tackling him once more. "Thought I'd lost my touch, eh? Hehe, I guess I am a bit more flirty then I used to be now.. so.. be prepared!"
