The abnormally strong wind scattered the long-resting dust, left untouched for months, from the large elephant bones and smaller-mammal bones, no doubt belonging to some ancient feast the previous occupants had. Smaller bones nearby trembled as a lion rushed past, and stopped, breathing heavily as the seemingly never ending warmth of the sunlight rested on his dark, ragged pelt, continuing to bake the hard, dusty earth, which had the looks of never seeing water since it's creation. Redclaw looked around, his eyes scanning the large, dusty-white mounds piled high with bones where once hyenas feasted.

In the recesses of the elephant graveyards, the shadows seemed to grow and move on their own. A lioness, clearly well out of her element, crouched low to the ground as a frightened gnu baby limped about, crying for its mother to come to its aid. It’s back right leg was clearly swollen and bleeding from a bite mark issued by the stalking lioness. Her russet coat barely stood out in the thickness of the shadows and her blue eyes watched the frantic movements of the wildebeest baby until it turned its back to her. Creeping forward on silent paws, Chanua came just within leaping range of the baby. Lifting up onto her paws, the lioness leapt from the shadows, landing on top of the young gnu. It was over in the blink of an eye, and the carcass was clenched successfully between her jaws.
Satisfied and proud, the lioness exited the large elephant skull and stepped into the diluted daylight that covered the graveyard, legs of her kill dragging along the ground. As she passed the massive tusks of the skull, the fresh scent of another lion invaded her nostrils. Dropping the kill, she stood over it, lips drawn back to reveal her sharp teeth, a growl rumbling deep within her chest. The kill was hers, and she was not about to give it up without a fight. Her blue eyes scanned the area and she called out, teeth still bared, Who’s there? The rusty hued lioness waited for a reply as she stood over her kill, body tensed and ready.

The smell of another lion reached him before it's voice did, and so the feminine voice did not quite surprise him. She sounded...Protective...For something...Meat, perhaps? His stomach ached at the thought. Meat...How he longed for the taste of flesh...For a matter of fact, he even had come to this graveyard of ancient bones, in search of whatever was left. He knew that the Graveyard was known for being abandoned, and so, a great place for many a creature to hide, even, he had hoped, food, but it seemed to have come in a different way altogether, food, perhaps in the jaws of another...A certain other he'll have to erase from the picture... He decided to stay hidden, to stalk the lioness from the shadows...Soon enough, he'll have whatever she's so...Protective, over...
OOC: My post looks unsophisticated next to yours XD

Chanua let out a menacing growl deep from the depths of her chest. It was the sound of a mother lion protecting a kill she would need to feed her young cub. The fur along her back bristled as the scent of the other grew stronger and she scanned the shadows for even the slightest hint of the other. Every little movement elicited another threatening snarl from the female until she spotted a shape in the shadows that didn’t seem to fit. It was the size of a typical male lion, and she could barely make out the shape of a mane about the head. Turning her head but still maintaining her position over the carcass, her fur bristled again and she pulled back her lips to expose her teeth, snarling a rather unfriendly greeting towards the male. There were no actual words, but she didn’t need words. She could speak in growls and body language perfectly fine in this situation.
