Jiraa's stride was fast paced, and on her face was a look of determination. Her green eyes seemed fixed on something in the distance, and her dark coat, though red in coloration, was impossible to see through the thick fog. Her ears perched high on her head, rotating occasionally to catch the sounds of footsteps should anyone be near. They weren't.
Soon, the fog began to dissipate, and her confident walk slowed. She wasn't far now. She came upon a slope, the slope that marked the end of her homeland's territory. She paused, looking down as far as she could see. Her tail twitched, and for a brief moment she looked nervous. Jiraa shook her head, and began to descend down the slope, out of the fog. She stopped at the stream. She peered into it's blue waters and saw her reflection gazing back at her. Slowly, her image began to blur and as she watched cautiously, it reappeared.
This face was similiar to hers, but different. It was older, slightly narrower, and a lighter shade of red. This face was missing her characteristic forehead stripe, and there were dots under both eyes. Her mother, Rhika, was the one staring back at her. Tears began to fall from Jiraa's eyes. "Mother..." "Do not fret my child. As long you keep your memories of us in your heart, we will never leave you. Do not forget us, my dear Jiraa." "I will never forget, Mother."
With that, Rhika's face disappeared, and was replaced with Jiraa's own again. She stood up, swiping at her face with her paw to wipe the rest of the tears away. She let out a roar to anyone in the Highlands and Lowlands to hear. Let any Lowlander enter her homelands, and she would personally escort them out.

As the wind blew softly against her pure white fur, Lavi made her way over the land, still following the scent of the injured boar. She would have made the kill hours ago had it not gotten up the strength and fled. Growling quietly to herself, she stalked past the border and into Highlands territory. If Kavu found out that she was this far from the territory, well, let's just say it wouldn't be pleasent. Stopping to scent again in the disappearing fog, it was then that Lavi heard the roar nearby. Instantly going on the alert, she froze, turning toward the direction of where she thought it was coming from. Lowering her head, she began to silently snarl, baring her teeth as her tail swished back and forth behind her. Lavi's claws came out, and she gently scratched at the dirt beneath her. Lavi was ready for a fight, if it came to that of course. But not many lions had fought with her and lived, for she was just that brutal in combat. There was a reason Kavu didn't like it when Lavi came along strangers by herself. Lavi had the tendancy to tear her enemy to shreds before they could speak, but that also made her valuable in a way. Kavu was glad to have her because he knew that if anything happened, wether it was a betreyal or if it was murder, she would not hesitate to kill if he wanted her to.

Being in the open, and out of the fog, all of Jiraa's senses were on high alert, especially when she was this tense. And with the fog gone, she could smell. The wind picked up and she caught the scent of someone whose scent was unfamiliar. A low growl was emitted. This intruder had dared to face her call. That was just fine with Jiraa, she was full of tension now anyway. Seeing her mother usually did that.
She turned in the direction of the smell, wandering along the banks of the stream before turning back into her homelands. From the smell, she could see that the intruder was female, and, surprisingly, not from the Lowlands. Good. That meant no one would come back for revenge so quickly. As she ventured further into her home, the fog began forming again, and Jiraa lifted her head high to keep the scent of this unknown female. She turned east and kept going. She weaved in and out of the fog, up and down hills, following the scent of her query. And finally, when she reached the ridge of a particularly rocky hill, she saw her.
She couldn't help the growl that escaped her as she descended upon the white female. "Who are you, and just what do you think you're doing in Highlands territory?" Her tone was vicious, threatening. She cut her green eyes, eyeing this female with complete malice. She wouldn't hesitate to fight a Lowlander, but any intruder had to be dealth with. She was dedicated completely to her pride, and strangers, in her eyes, were not welcome.

Lavi let out a vicious snarl, returning the malice that the opposite female gave her with equal intensity. She wasn't afraid to fight this Highlander, and she had the feeling that Jiraa wouldn't hesitate either. Bringing her head back up, she stood tall with narrowed eyes, tail still swishing as she gazed at Jiraa, claws still digging into the dirt beneath her. "I lost my catch. And as to who I am, you have no buisness knowing that information." Lavi spat at Jiraa, giving another small growl at the darker lion. Taking a few steps forward, her tail was now lashing as anger surged through her. So what if she got caught? She used to roam these lands as a adolescent, so she knew the layout well. Not that she ever got caught then. So why should now be any different?

Jiraa snorted at Lavi, her threatening posture rolling off her back. She wasn't afraid of this female, and she could tell her foe wasn't about to back down either.
"Actually, it is my business. In case you didn't realize, you don't belong here. So I suggest you leave, unless you want some more scars on that pretty little face of yours," Jiraa snapped, officially angry. How DARE this intruder talk to her like that! She must have the intelligence of a gazelle, following blindly behind its herd mates into the mouths of the crocodiles during the dry season.
She growled, baring her large teeth at Lavi, her dark fur raised. She had caught her in a bad mood, and her snarky remark didn't earn her any brownie points. She was already picturing this female with a ripped ear, or a missing eye. That put a devilish smirk on her face, and she looked up, staring daggers at this disrespectful cub of a lioness.

Lavi smirked then, straightening her body as she noticed the lioness' reaction. She could tell that Jiraa was in a bad mood, and that she would rip Lavi apart if she really wanted to. Well, she could try. Jiraa probably didn't even know what it was to fight, like Lavi herself did. She knew that if it came to a fight, she would probably have the upper hand because of her past. "I earned my scars the respectful way: by fighting for them. Not by crying over old wounds." Lavi countered, her face twisting into a cruel sneer as she watched the other lioness still. Tail still lashing back and forth, Lavi's steps grew larger as she slowed her pace, coming ever closer to the angry Highlander that stood before her.

Jiraa snorted at the arrogant Lavi, her green eyes cold and heartless. She was ready to rip her limb from limb and drag her parts around as trophies. Her tail flicked slightly, the only movement from her entire body. She stepped closer to Lavi, closing the distance between the two females. the tension was astronomical, and the slightest remark could set off chaos.
I earned my scars the respectful way: by fighting for them. Not crying over old wounds. Jiraa tilted her head back and let out a disturbing laugh. "Good. Then you wouldn't mind another!" A loud growl/roar escaped from her throat as she rushed at Lavi. With her claws out now, she swung at Lavi's face, aiming to rake the female from ear to muzzle.
