His mud-brown paws left deep marks in the dry soil. He had walked this soil for years and always hated it, but there was nowhere else he knew how to be. He came up on the field of scattered bones and spat spitefully. He swept his unsheathed claws around and knocked the remains of a carcass aside, his head bowed and bangs hanging over his eyes. His icy eyes swept across the bones strewn throughout, stretching into the horizon. What a horrible world it was. This was all the world had to offer: war, death, and destruction. He spat again.
His claws still unsheathed, he gripped the ground in seething anger and disgust. Suddenly, unpredictably, he whipped around with a growl and began pacing. He couldn't just stand somewhere and be mad, he had to move to keep himself from exploding. The sun began to rise and cast its merciless hot glow on his sad little world. That's exactly what the sun saw, a sad little land, with a sad little juvenile who had lost everything to gain nothing.
The Badlands were nothing.

A black lion padded over the bones, each step crackled as the bones beneath his heavy paws broke. He saw the young cub pacing and sighed. He knew what it was like to lose someone you loved. (I wasn't detailed in his history, but he did lose a mate...twice.) Walking towards the cub, the elder spoke softly. He knew what this cub was thinking. "The Badlands may be nothing, Nharo, but it's all you have. We are now your family. I know how you feel, little one. I too encountered a great loss...twice." Stone said as he stopped not far from the cub.

A Badlands elder, Jiwa, strode into the Boneyard. He stopped several feet away from where he paced and said with a raspy, old voice, "The Badlands may be nothing, Nharo, but it's all you have. We are now your family. I know how you feel, little one. I too encountered a great loss...twice."
He stopped pacing, his back facing the elder. When he spoke, his voice was angry and frustrated. "I know it's all I have, trust me." He paused, slightly turning his head toward Jiwa. He then turned his face forward and began to slowly trod up the dirt hill, sprinkled with white bones. When he reached the top, the wind gusted around him and whipped the beginnings of his mane to the side. "I am not a little one."

Stone sighed as the cub snapped back at him. " I know it's all I have, trust me. And i am not a little one." he looked at the cub as he walked up the bone hill. " To me you are little. Any lion is little to me." he said the last sentence while looking down at his paws. Stone didn't like being larger than every lion he met. It always made him seem fiercer than he really was.

"To me you are little." He grimaced, holding back a burst of smart replies. "Any lion is little to me." Ugh, of course. He's trying to make this about himself.
He turned on Jiwa, baring his fangs. "The world isn't about you! Poor old Jiwa! He looks so scary that other people don't pick on him or attack him for no reason!" The fur on his spine was spiked up and his front claws dug deep into the bone-studded earth.
He roared, starting with a growling rumbling in his throat and building to an explosion of built up pain and rage.

Stone was a little taken a back by the cubs remark and shook his head. WHen the cub rored he was surprised by the matureness of it. He remembered when he heard Simba as a cub's roar. It was just a squeak! Stone smirked and spoke again, this time time trying to avoid anything about himself. "Impressive roar, Nharo. When could you roar like that?"

Jiwa spoke again. Nharo hissed to himself at the arrogant elder. "Impressive roar, Nharo. When could you roar like that?"
He gripped the dirt with his claws and yelled back to Jiwa. "I could roar the moment turmoil began in my life!" He growled, and spoke low enough so only he and the old lion could hear. "The day I was born."
He grimaced, his eyes closing and his shoulders rising. I never had a chance.

Jiwa was taken aback once again by the cub's reaction. "I could roar the moment turmoil began in my life!" The second sentence caught his attention though. Not the words, but the way they were spoken.... quietly. "The day i was born."[/b] Jiwa looked the cub in the eyes. He knew some of the story of Nharo, but not all. "Nharo, what is wrong?" Jiwa said softly, limping painfully towards the cub.

"Nharo, what is wrong?" He noticed his limping, but took little note of it. His emotions were too turbulent to notice much.
"It always happens to me!" She roared at Jiwa, his eyes burning and shimmering with pure fury. "I'm born in the Badlands, the land with the worst reputation of all! I'm born to a mother who gives me no freedom, then she too is ripped from me. The only family I have in this world is my brother," he paused, digging his claws once again into the ground, "because my heartless father doesn't count."

Jiwa looked in confusion at Nharo as he mentioned a brother. "Nharo, you have a brother?"
OOC: Gah! i'm running out of ideas! This cub is sooooooooooo emotional!

He squinted at Jiwa, utterly hurt. "I've lived in the Badlands all my life, Jiwa, so has my brother!" He growled, almost annoyed by the clueless elder. "Where is it you've been living?" OOC:: Yepp he's a special little dude. Sorry Jairel adopted Nharo's brother I'm just not sure what Jairel has in mind for his name and whatnot. Also, so sorry about the fail-y-ness this most be my most fail-y post ever. I'm having trouble elaborating right now.

"As a vagrant.'[/] that was all Jiwa said. He didn't want to anger nharo again by taking about himself.
OOC: Told you I was running out of ideas!

He grimaced, remembering that Jiwa hadn't spent his life here, in the Badlands. Once again, he was being corrected.
"Right."
He strode up the hill and out of the Boneyard, not looking back at the elder. He strode toward the Lone Tree. For some reason, he loved that tree. He felt that they understood each other. They could be lonely together.
