[glow=brown,2,300]KAVU[/glow] He strode across the Grasslands, his lands, the greatest lands there have ever been or will ever be. His mane was jubilant, shifting over his fur as the wind swept past him. His large, powerful paws left deep marks in the grass they had become accustomed to. The shifting sands and scorching heat was left in his past, but never forgotten. He would never forget his heritage or the only family he had known, his father. He was who he was because of his father.
His sandy fur was easily seen during the day, but the only time of day he needn't be seen is at night. Day was the time for socializing. He could be seen from the other side of the Grasslands by his pride, so his pelt had a purpose. Now, his purpose we regulating all the goings-on in the land of Kavu. For him, that meant warming his fur all day. He stretched out underneath a small, wiry tree that cast a minimal amount of shade.
And he was totally okay with that. Legend: Thoughts "My words" "Others' words"

[glow=Blue,2,300]LAVI[/glow] Paw prints silent on the soft ground, the large white lioness made her way over the layout of the Savanna. Lavi was glad to get away from all the stress her thoughts would sometimes bring her, glad to be away from her Pride at the moment. As the sun beat down, hot and merciless, the large scar along Lavi's flank stung slightly. But it was no different than any other day so far. It was then that she came across a familiar scent, one that she had known since the day she came to live with the Grasslanders. It was Kavu, and of course he was farther than he needed to be, just like normal. But than again, so was she. Shaking the thought away, she fell into an easy run, nearing the spot where Kavu was resting. She didn't want to intrude, but she was having a rare moment where she wanted some company. "Hello Kavu." Lavi said, appearing from the tall grass of the Savanna quite suddenly, already back down to a walk. Stopping at the edge of the grass, she lay down on the ground, laying onto her side as she did, her tail flicking slightly as she watched the King.

FARAJI With silent footsteps in the semi-tall grass, Faraji strode across unfamiliar territory. His crimson mane shook slightly as he walked. He was sure this was run by a much stronger male than he. And he was unaware of their customs. Isolation had driven his former pride to believe things normal prides wouldn't: magic, shamans, strange deities, and prophets. Faraji was named the latter.
A famous prophet among his lions after predicting the Great Inferno--as they called it--they worshiped him like a god. With the help of his step-father, Paki, he manipulated the pride to his will with his constant fake predictions. More than half of them never came to pass. The others were either pure luck or pure reasoning, which his pride seemed to lack.
It got so bad, Faraji started to believe in his own prophesies, which lead him to ultimately leave his lions in order to help the world by using his 'clairvoyance'.
His dark red eyes surveyed the land before him. With fur as light as his, he was a beacon just itching for attention.

[glow=Blue,2,300]LAVI[/glow] As Lavi lay there, the scent of another lion drifted through the air, reaching her. Standing cautiously, she opened her mouth, letting the strange scent hit her head on. With a soft growl, she took a few steps forward, eyes instantly spotting Faraji on the horizon. With cautious steps, she glanced back at Kavu, than made her way towards Faraji, stopping a few yards away. Tail swishing and eyes narrowed, she watched the other male with caution, her white fur shining under the hot, lazy sun. "And who are you?" Lavi said, her tone less kind than when she had spoken to Kavu. Unlike some of the lions in her Pride, she was less welcoming to strangers than some might be. Every now and then, her claws would sink into the earth beneath her, than retract again as she stared at the intruder with malice.

[glow=brown,2,300]KAVU[/glow] His eyes opened as he heard the familiar steps of Lavi drawing nearer. When she greeted him, he smiled pleasantly as replied, "Good Evening, Lavi." He closed his eyes once more and returned his head to the stone on which he sunbathed and rested. Lavi had lay on the ground near him.
Not soon afterwords, footsteps thudded across the Grasslands. His ears perked and his head rose once more. Another male had trespassed. He refused t jump to conclusions, but the usual hostility took the place of understanding.
"And who are you?" Lavi glared at the intruder with obvious spite. He lifted himself off the flat rock and walked over to the newcomer, standing above Lavi. He hoped this would show Lavi that the situation was his to control, and control it he would. "Greetings. Welcome to the Grasslands." He flicked his tail in a courteous manner, showing his didn't intend ill will... yet. "What brings you here?" Legend: Thoughts "My words" "Others' words"

FARAJI Faraji sniffed the air, which was full of the scent of a male lion and a lioness. They were close, and hopefully he would be greeted kindly. As he continued his trek, he finally spotted the two. It seemed as if they were conversing. The lioness turned to him suddenly, and Faraji knew that this wasn't going to be a happy occasion. He let his tail sink slightly in between his legs to show that he meant no harm.
"And who are you?" she said when she approached him. She was a pretty white lioness. Much prettier than the ones in his pride. Faraji wondered if all the lionesses in this part of the Grasslands were like that.
Before he could reply, the sand-colored male came over. "Greetings. Welcome to the Grasslands." The way he held himself, Faraji knew this was the king. "What brings you here?"
"Greetings," he replied, bowing his head. "I am Faraji. It is a pleasure to meet you." He stared directly into the male's eyes. If Paki had taught him anything important, it was to always keep eye-contact with those you speaks to. It showed that you were confident and not the submissive type. "I have traveled away from my pride, whom resides at the edge of the Grasslands, to help those that need it." He smiled warmly when he finished.

[glow=Blue,2,300]LAVI[/glow] Lavi eyed Faraji suspiciously, but backed down as Kavu approached. She wouldn't dare try anything as long as her King was around, for that would be disrespectful. Normally, she would have attacked by now, if she were alone. But that was not the case now. "And you came here why?" Lavi stated, even though she knew she shouldn't speak. Tail swishing in annoyance at her lack of control in this situation, she slowly sat down, wrapping her tail around her paws as she gazed at Faraji with narrowed eyes. She decided that for now, she would not speak again unless Kavu let her say what she really wanted to say.

[glow=brown,2,300]KAVU[/glow] He had noticed the minor details of the strange lion's actions and thought deeply about his purpose here. He blocked out most of the lion's speech, except for the end.
"...to help those that need it."
His jaw tightened, but it wasn't a very visible reaction. He couldn't believe such a simple excuse, there was so much left out. It seemed to him that whatever the reason was that he left his pride, Faraji didn't see fit to mention it. And then there was, 'to help those that need it.' What was that supposed to mean? Did he believe the Grasslands needed the assistance of another male? Hmph.
"And you came here why?" Lavi spoke up, making it a point that she would disobey her king to threaten a wanderer. He waved his tail, as if brushing aside the question. "If you came here seeking to assist us, then I apologize. The Grasslands are not in need of help."
Hopefully, now, Faraji would come clean on why it was he spoke with them. Legend: Thoughts "My words" "Others' words"

FARAJI Faraji noticed the brush of the male lion's tail. It seemed that the lioness was stepping out of line slightly, and her king was hinting at something. "If you came here seeking to assist us, then I apologize. The Grasslands are not in need of help."
Ignoring the lioness, Faraji replied in a saddened tone, "Well, that's too bad. I could have done so much for your lands. I'll take my leave, then, seeing as I am not needed here." He bowed to the king and, without so much as a glance toward the lioness, he passed them and continued on his journey.
That should raise some questions, the sly lion thought as he strode along at a deliberately slow pace. He made it look as though his paws were tired and sore and a slow pace would ease the pain.

[glow=Blue,2,300]LAVI[/glow] Lavi glanced up at Kavu as Faraji spoke, her tail swishing back and forth as she waited impatiently for the conversation to be done. Why did this lion think the Grasslands needed help? She knew they were perfectly fine. So this lion was probably just crazy. As soon as Faraji got up and began to pad away with a slow, injuted gait, Lavi became suspicious. Just like the male had shown no intrest in her, she showed no sympathy toward him as he passed. Lavi watched him for a moment longer before turning and padding over to the rock that Kavu stood on. "Kavu, I don't trust him. Can I scratch him up? Just a little?" Lavi whispered to him, ears flicking back and forth as she waited for his answer, hoping that he would say yes. She wanted to show this new male the pain she could cause with her claws, like the pain she had experienced threw her many years, and that one fateful day from when she had got that large scar that still pained her after all these years.

[glow=brown,2,300]KAVU[/glow] The wandering male's tone was saddened as he replied. "Well, that's too bad. I could have done so much for your lands. I'll take my leave, then, seeing as I am not needed here." He plodded off with a measured pace, grimacing with every step. His acting was impressive, he admitted. The short bow was unimpressive, but noticed.
"Kavu, I don't trust him. Can I scratch him up, just a little?" Lavi's venomous intentions upset him, but it was temporary and not visible. His ears swiveled as he thought about his reply, making sure not to offend his Pridemate as well as being proactive toward the intruder. Of one thing he was sure, he had to do something.
His tail swished back and forth near the ground as he thought. "That would not be wise, Lavi." He stepped forward, past his pridemate, to stand just behind Faraji. "Faraji, what is the real reason you are here? You can't assume a Pride needs help, and I won't allow you to leisurely prance across my territory." He furrowed his brow, concentration on the lion's form a short span away. "I only offer hospitality to those who speak their purpose and speak it truthfully, proudly." He nodded. "Speak now." FARAJI Faraji heard the footsteps of the lion and stopped, not turning toward him. "Faraji, what is the real reason you are here? You can't assume a Pride needs help, and I won't allow you to leisurely prance across my territory." Hook, line and sinker. He had them right where he wanted them. Asking for more.
"You won't allow me to walk across your lands? Why, other animals do the same. I'm sure there are a few wanderers like myself who do so as well." Skipping around the first question would keep their attention. He needed to tread carefully now; one false move may anger the king, and Faraji didn't need that.
"I only offer hospitality to those who speak their purpose and speak it truthfully, proudly. Speak now." That was the response he was hoping not to get. Slightly saddened that his little game would not continue, Faraji decided to tell them before things got heated.
Sighing, he took a deep breath and turned around, red eyes shimmering with pride. "The reason I came here is simple. I lived in a pride on the far edge of the Grasslands. They call me by many names, but one stands out. I am the Prophet, the one who is able to see into the future--vaguely--and predict events that have yet come to pass. I left my pride in order to use my gift for the greater good of the world."
