[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote] "Aha. Aha. Ahahaha!"
She was rolling, over and over on her back. Her front paws were bent over her chest, her back paws picked out in enjoyment, and her eyes were closed with sheer joy. Her mouth hung open with a laugh that rang out across the vast Highlands. She extended her paw to trace a pattern in the air. To any other feline it would look as if she was certifiably insane. She might have been, but there wasn't an asylum in the world that could hold her in. Her sparkling, purple eyes narrowed in concentration as she imagined the scene occurring somewhere far away.
A lion was crouched in the grass, silent and sure. A gazelle stood high above, on a stone protruding from the earth. A rock clattered across the ground. The lion's ears perked, it looked dumbly this and that, and took off. The gazelle hopped along after the lion, chasing it across the savanna.
She laughed again, clear and cheery.
"Ahahahaha!"
The tables had turned. Nothing was as it seemed to be. Everything was different, which, actually, was preferable to her anyway. Nothing was as it seemed.
Sometimes, that's how everything seems. Legend: Thoughts"My words""Others' words"

Beneath the unbearable heat of the African sun, a young juvenile lion walked slowly across the open planes. Crisp blades of dry, golden grasses brushed lightly against his dark pelt as his even stride carried him one step at a time. Bright amber optics stared at the ground beneath his feet; dark strands of his rich brown mane falling on either side of his hanging head. The rays of the bright sun overhead beat into the young lion's dark pelt, intensifying the heat his body felt. The mysterious weather that the various territories had been receiving recently had made the daily climate difficult to predict each day. Lack of rainfall had left the savannas even drier than usual. An event that seemed to intensify the already scorching temperatures of the midday African sun.
Huru's breath came short, quick breaths in a pant that would hopefully lower his elevated body temperature. His goal now was to find some source of shade on the vast planes and remove himself from exposure to the sun. The young male knew that in weather like this, the heat made travel during the day risky for even the fittest creatures. Finding somewhere cool to wait until the sun had set was the best approach for wandering creatures who had no place to call home.
Huru raised his eyes from the earth at his feet, staring out into the distance. The heat radiated in blurred waves off the savanna, making distant objects difficult to make out. A short distance from where he stood, Huru made out the faint silhouettes of a few sparse trees. Without a second thought, the juvenile lion began making his way toward the figures in the distance, knowing that where there was vegetation, there was bound to be some form of shade.
As Huru approached the new territory, the temperature of the atmosphere around him seemed to drop a few degrees. The deeper he moved into it boundaries, the radiating waves of heat were replaced by a light fog. Instantly, Huru felt relief, as his body made adjustments to the new, more adequate climate in which he found himself. It was only a matter of time before his panting returned to a normal inhale and exhale of breath and his pace quickened slightly with a newly discovered energy. The juvenile's nostrils flared rapidly as the intruding lion searched the air for any evidence that a pride already survived here. Though the odor of other lions lingered in the air, Huru did not slow his movement in the slightest. The odds of encountering another of his species on a day like today were slim, and a life on his own had prepared the young male for many different circumstances.
A mysterious sound in the distance captured Huru's attention. The racket itself, was by far the strangest noise the juvenile male had ever heard in his young life. Curious as to what it could be, he followed his ears in the direction of the sound, stopping as he found himself face to face with a young lioness. Her lightly pelted body lay on its back in the open plane, rolling side to side. Fits of laughter were emitted from her vocals, causing the confused expression on Huru's face to morph entirely. "What are you doing?" The young male snorted, wondering if she could even hear him over her resounding fits of laughter.

[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote][/url] Her eyes were still closed, her laughter drowning out all other thoughts and words, this included the paw steps of a male lion converging on the clearing.
"What are you doing?"
Her ears pricked, she rolled over onto her side, and opened her brilliant purple eyes. She blinked and flicked her right ear. "Enjoying myself for once." She stood and shook the grass from her fur. She then walked over to a stone and raked her claws over the hard rock. A sharp slicing sound followed the expression. Her tail arced over back as she stretched her back legs. She trotted over to her normal sunning spot on a flat stone a few feet from the ground and leaped onto its surface. She laid down on the edge of the rock and looked down at the newcomer, her head resting on her left paw and her right paw hanging over the stone.
"You aren't from around here." She tilted her head and blinked twice, unknowingly bringing attention to her strange eyes. "We don't get many visitors around here." She looked up at the stars and gave the lion a side-glance, "Assuming you're just a visitor." She unsheathed the claws on her right paw. She would need to chase him away if he intended to overthrow Maliki. She was no fan of the lioness-oriented king, but with him gone the Lowlands could easily invade them. She would never let that happen.
It all hung on a one word answer. Even then, she didn't know if she could trust him. Legend: Thoughts"My words""Others' words"

Enjoying herself? Rolling on the ground hysterically laughing at nothing seemed like a strange way to approach the subject. How was it possible for someone find laughing by themselves in the middle of a territory enjoyable? Huru rolled his Amber eyes as the lioness finally quelled her fits of hysterics and got to her feet. She looked at him for a moment, shaking the grass from her light colored pelt, before hopping on top of a large rock a few feet from where Huru stood.
The young male's gaze had followed her every move, but were now drawn to her mysteriously colored eyes. A bright violet purple and something Huru had never seen before in his life. He wondered how she had obtained optics of such a unique coloration, and was hypnotized for a moment by the uniqueness of her feature.
"No, I'm not from around here." He finally said, watching as the lioness unsheathed her claws. The gesture was intended to be threatening, but Huru did not move from where he stood. "And if I'm not 'just' a visitor..?" He inquired, allowing a subtle smirk to upturn the corners of his lips. Huru's own set of claws dug deeply into the soft earth beneath his feet. If she was planning on starting any physical confrontation, the young male would not hesitate to fight back.

[glow=purple,2,300]ARRA[/glow] [/blockquote][/url] "And I'm not just a visitor."
She took the male's potential threat as a compliment to himself. She chuckled lightly, her violet eyes opening and closing. She replied with her claws still unsheathed, but scratching the large rock beneath her next to the multiple marks she had made long ago.
"You could be right, but you don't seem *quite the royal type." She rolled over onto her back and looked at the strange lion. His strange brown mane that hung over his amber eyes was all the more intoxicating upside-down. She smiled at him in a smirk-like fashion and blinked her purple eyes. "Well, that would depend on your definition of royal." The juvenile male replied, a smirk still plastered on his features. The young female with the violet eyes, rested comfortably upon the rock before him. His presence did not seem to bother her in any way, for she appeared completely relaxed. As she rolled over onto her back, Huru could not pull his eyes from her violet orbs. As strange as this lioness seemed to be, she was equally intriguing.
Huru moved forward a few paces, his eyes not straying from hers. Whether it was their mysterious coloration or somethign about the lioness as a whole, Huru felt hypnotized by her. He closed his eyes for a brief moment, inhaling a deep breath of warm air. As Huru exhaled and opened his eyes once more, he was greeted by the pair of purple eyes still staring at him. "What's up with your eyes?" He felt the need to ask, completely intrigued by them once again.
