quick description - A light golden lioness with darker fur around her blue eyes.
full description - Vitani's time in the pridelands has been good to her. Her once dusty pale yellow coat has become a healthy light golden with a creamy white underbelly and paws. Her eyes are a bright blue and the marks around her eyes are a pale brown, blending well with her coat. Tani's slim frame has not filled out and she will probably forever be slim with a narrow head and slim muzzle. Tani's ears are rounded and she has a bit of tuft on her head, something that she had been made fun of when she was a cub. But now she is very pretty, her light gold coat giving off a healthy feel after so many years of harsh treatment and her eyes glowing with the constant food.
personality - Vitani's life as an outsider had given her a harsh outlook on life but despite being raised to believe that Simba was an enemy and he was to be killed Vitani was always wondering if Zira had been wrong. The change from Outsider to Pridelander was a shock that Vitani still is not comfortable with. Despite her 'brother' Kovu's ease at becoming a pridelander and the acceptance of Kiara and Nala, Vitani believes that Simba is not comfortable with the previous Outlanders being in his pride. Vitani is an excellent hunter and she feels that when she does hunt she is accepted more than when she's not doing anything. She feels as if she does not belong and constantly seems to be in a state of wariness. Vitani tries to find things to do because if she lets her mind wander she finds that thoughts of who she is and who she should be occupy her mind constantly.
Vitani is plagued by nightmares of her past, things she doesn't remember and things that she does. She has a deep fear of these nightmares but she doesn't speak of them because of the pride that Zira had forced into her. Vitani knew what Zira did was wrong but she still feels that Zira's death, and the near war between the two prides, were partly her fault. She had willingly gone along with Zira and feels regret that she could not be her own lioness and she had to rely on Zira to make decisions for her. Vitani is still confused about herself, not knowing if she really is a lioness who's heart is as tainted as Zira's had been or if she really could be the compassionate lioness that she felt like when she apposed Zira.
history - Despite most Lion's belief that Vitani is the daughter of the now deceased Zira and some random lion Vitani is not. Infact Vitani's real parents are the King and Queen of the Vinelands. When Vitani was born Zira had been looking for food for the pridelands in the late stage of Scar's reign. She had stumbled upon the little cub as Vitani had wandered away from her mother and Zira had taken her as her own. Vitani has no real concrete memories of the bright warm jungle she had been born into but frequent nightmares of a warm dark place and sharp bright blue eyes staring at her. Most of Vitani's young cub hood was spent at Zira's side until the lioness' who had supported Scar's reign was forced out of the pridelands. Vitani was taken along with Zira's real son, Nuka, who was a season older than her. Along with Nuka and Vitani came Kovu, whom Vitani herself does not know where he came from. Vitani was raised with Kovu and Nuka in the out lands, her mother giving praise to Vitani and Kovu yet letting her own real son fall into the background. Vitani and Kovu would always fight, not play like other cubs. Fighting was their playing and Zira encouraged the harsh play between the two.
She was always living in Kovu's shadow as second-best, and there was a general lacking of any sort of maternal love. however, she still grew into being her mother's right paw, and rarely chose to defy her. As a cub, she would simply watch as Kovu wandered off to wherever the cub would go, blaming her older brother, Nuka, for the cub wandering off. As a cub, she loved to speak to Nuka as if she had a higher authority - and she often felt like she did. Nuka was simple-minded and dull, not meant to be anything like a king. As a cub, she often pointed this out.
Vitani was never a fan of kiara, or the pridelanders in general. so when her mother offered her a job in setting the pridelands on fire, she was all too happy to do just that. Nuka dragged her down, but together they pulled off the task. When Kovu betrayed her pride by killing her brother AND fell in love with simba's pretty little daughter, Vitani held a grudge from her once-litter mate, outcasted from their pride. Vitani's grudge and hate of the pridelanders was fed from her mother's attention soon after Kovu 'betrayed' them. Vitani was all for the fight between the Outlanders and Pridelanders because it meant that her mother would give her the love she had always yearned for. At least the love she thought she yearned for. Zira was cruel, even to her cubs and Vitani molded easily to Zira's way, never giving her mother a problem nor a doubt until the fight between the two prides.
When Nuka was killed Vitani seemed to realize what her mother's crazed dream was costing them. What her pride is causing her to lose. Nuka was Vitani's brother, not in blood perhaps, but still her brother and even though she had always been horrid to him Vitani had loved Nuka. Nuka's death brought forward Vitani's conscience it seemed and from that point on Vitani always had a doubt about Zira. The fight between the two prides brought revelations for all. When Kiara said they were all the same Vitani's earlier dislike fell and she realized that the female was right. They were no different from the pridelanders. So she stepped away from her mothers shadow and made her own. Zira could not handle the truth and attacked Simba while the two prides watched with horror Kiara jumped inbetween the two, causing them both to tumble over the cliff.
Vitani was saddened by her mothers death. She regretted not trying to steer her mother away. She felt that Zira's death was partly her fault and has been haunted by Zira's accusing face in her dreams. Vitani wants to become someone better than she was and the pridelands seem to be that place.
