Not my artwork. “ I'm not afraid of anything!” KOPA
Nicknames: Fluffy Gender: Male Age: 6 Species: African Lion Homeland: Pridelands Rank: Prince
Quick Description: A tan lion with brown rims on his ears, surprisingly kind blue eyes, and a brown mane.
Full Description: Kopa is only slightly smaller in stature than his father and shares a lot of his facial features with a strong jaw and square features. He however shares his mothers long lithe body, he's more lean than bulky but there is obvious power beneath his pelt. His pelt happens to be a slightly dark tan in color, almost sandy. His underbelly is a light beige in color as well as the circles of his eyes sharing that same hue, his toes share the same light coloring and contrast brightly against his sandy pelt. His ear rims, 'eyebrows', and the top of his tail are a distinctive dark brown in color, while his man is a light reddish brown though darker than his fathers in hue.
His mane is copious, though not the largest on any lion and parts in the front much like bangs would, flipping out in arcs away from his face. The last similarity he shares with his mother is her startling blue eyes, though they're naturally kind like his fathers. His eyes along with the markings above his eyes that look like eyebrows make this the most expressive part of his body, as well as his tail.
Personality: As Kopa matured he still didn't love some of his traits he held as a cub. He is still quit adventurous, and curious, a good story doesn't go amiss with him but he usually listens discreetly. However growing up and being what he thought of as abandoned for years he lost some of his enthusiasm for becoming king of the Pridelands. However after recent developments he has once again found a pride in being a prince and can often times come off as arrogant because of his heritage. Really he's only proud of it but he tends to brag about being a Prince and who is father and grandfather were.
Kopa is slightly resentful, he believes that his parents gave up much to easy when they were told he was missing or dead. At first he believed they had exiled him but when he came to find out the truth his hate turned to resentment at their failure of him. Had they looked better he wouldn't have spent all those years away from them in the Outlands on his own believing he was someone that he was not.
Despite his garbled past Kopa is generally quite kind, he does what he can to fend for the helpless and protect them. He can be fierce in battle and in an argument like his mother, intimidating despite his naturally kind and laid back demeanor. Kopa is very prideful and its hard to make him admit that he's wrong or that he's done something wrong when all he had were good intentions. His pride also makes him afraid of ever looking weak or scared and he'll often act like he isn't even if he would secretly like to wet himself. This can cause him to jump into terrible odds just to prove a point, making him a bit reckless.
Even with all his flaws Kopa tries to live up to his legacy by being a kind and wise lion, though he lacks experience in ruling he has been around the ringer in life once or twice. And his deep seated childhood trauma's give him more depth than one would expect from what was once a shallow prince.
Goals: To get back to the Pridelands and confront his father. To live up to his legacy as King.
History: Kopa was born to Simba and Nala, the first born of their two children and heir. Kopa was much like both his mother and father as a cub, possessing their mischievous and adventure loving attitude and just as it got Simba and Nala into trouble it was sure to get Kopa into trouble. Kopa's trouble and consequences however were much more severe than either of his parents antics ever were. He spent his young life following his father much like Simba had done and learned what would righfully be his one day and what would not. In doing so Simba laid the groundwork for his own hearache.
Kopa wanting to know what the Outlands possessed that he couldn't have willingly traveled there. He was unimpressed with the landscape as a whole but it had its thrills and he tempted fate more than once with the alligators. It was when he traveled farther into the Outlands that he really got into trouble as he ran into its pride, ran by Zira. Her evil ambitions made her slyly convince the cub to stay and play with her own cubs while she slunk off to meet with Simba. She planned to tell the King that she'd killed his son, either to encite war or to simply break his spirit. If he didn't fight her then and there she had plans for Kopa, plans for him to be raised by her and for him to kill his father.
Zira imparted the news to Simba and his mate leaving them heartbroken but neither started war even if they would have liked to. Zira disappointed but not entirely put off returned to the Outlands to tell Kopa a terrible lie, she claimed that his parents were so disappointed in him for coming to the Outlands that they had exiled him. Telling him never to return to them again. The cub was horrified but instead of taking comfort in Zira he ran off, escaping the termite mounds. Zira was confident that he would return, unable to care for himself as he was but her prediction would come to be wrong.
Kopa spent his life living with a Cheetah family, growing up with them and hating his father and mother for what they'd done. He entertained thoughts of going back many times but each time he feared what they might do and so he stayed. His Cheetah mother was nice to him and her cubs were his age, so he was raised like one of her own. When he reached adulthood however he realized it was time to move on and after tearful goodbyes he bid his foster family adieu and moved onto his life on his own in the Outlands. Now everyone believed him dead, even Zira and he was unaware of the war she waged against his father.
It wouldn't be until many years later that he'd return to the Pridelands, intent on finally breaching the silence he'd instilled against his family for the sake of moving on. His resentment was something he no longer wanted to hold onto and to let it go he had to speak to them first, even if it meant he would be laughed out of the Pridelands.
