KOPA
Nicknames: N/A Gender: Male Age: 6 years old Species: Lion Homeland: Vinelands Rank: N/A
Quick Description: A golden coloured lion with blue eyes and a dark brown mane.
Full Description: Kopa is a golden coloured lion, slightly leaner than his father and grandfather in physique but still in optimum body condition. His most prominent feature, particularly as a male lion, has to be his vibrant blue eyes. This trait he inherited from his mother along with his more lean form. His mane is a darker shade of brown, like his great grandfather’s was, with the tufts of hair behind his elbows and the hair at the end of his tail mimicking this shade. His face and jaw line have a more prominent outline than his dad’s, with his dark eyebrows and black nose giving him a slightly fierce look.
Growing up in the Outlands for a large portion of his life before leaving to take refuge in the Vinelands , while occasionally visiting other territories, he quickly taught himself to hunt as he had no pride of lionesses to depend on. His toned body is evidence of this.
Personality: Barely a few days old and already Simba’s adventurous and curious traits when he was a cub could be seen in their son and first born. Even when confined to the den he somehow managed to get himself into trouble and those were only the times that he didn’t manage to sneak away from Zazu’s watch. With his sense of adventure came bravery and considering her strived to be like both his father and mother as well as his late grandfather, Mufasa, there was no time to be afraid. Being the next in line and only heir to the throne, he needed to be brave.
Ever since his subsequent maturation in the Outlands however, being told for years that his parents disowned him and brainwashed to hate them, Kopa is darker. He is no longer the fun loving cub that wanted to be like his dad; that cub grew up. While he does want the title that is rightfully his, he also wants to see Simba and Nala suffer for abandoning him.
Goals: Resentment fuels Kopa’s determination to one day confront his parents: the King and Queen of the Pridelands.
History: First born son of Simba and Nala and heir to the throne, Kopa was presented to the animals of the Pridelands like his father and grandfather before him from atop Pride Rock. His parents couldn’t be any prouder as they looked on and at the end of the presentation both parents licked their son affectionately before nuzzling him and each other. Everything was perfect.
Like Simba when he was younger, as Kopa grew older his curiosity frequently got the best of him. As much as his parents taught him that danger, especially for a young, cub could be lurking where he least expected it he remained fearless. It was a trait that made them proud and afraid at the same time. Still, they knew that they would have to give him some freedom and most importantly they wanted him to know that they trusted him. In return he needed to promise to be careful. One day that promise was broken.
Nala was about to lead the hunting party as dinner time approached, however she delayed that departure because she wanted to make sure that Kopa was in the den before she left. Simba was out patrolling the borders and the routine was one they developed a while ago. Today he was late. Her King’s roar had her rushing to his location with the lionesses after leaving Zazu to keep an eye out for Kopa. An Outlander had apparently wandered into their territory and was challenging Simba. Knowing the odds were against him when the lionesses arrived, he boasted about his victory over a young cub and immediately Nala took off to search for their son. Using this distraction to his advantage the Outlander took off and after being told Kopa was missing Simba joined his mate.
The search went on for days and after a week Nala was practically inconsolable. They all knew the odds of a young cub surviving on his own weren’t good; even less if he was injured. Weeks passed without a sign of him and it wasn’t until after a few months that both agreed it was time to say a proper farewell. Kopa was with his grandfather now, but would never be forgotten.
Much of what happened that day is a blur to Kopa. All he remembers is seeing his parents that morning and then waking up bloody and bruised in the Outlands. Without help from a lioness there he most likely wouldn’t have survived. Nursing him back to health she filled his head with lies, including that his attack was orchestrated by his parents. When he was finally healed for the first time he was afraid and this time it was of his parents. Choosing to stay in the Outlands, he trained and played with the cubs there and as he grew the initial fear he felt towards his parents became anger. When word was received that they were presenting their daughter to the Pridelands, there was hatred there. He’d been replaced and what was rightfully his had been taken away. One day he would reclaim what is rightfully his.
