Because of the fact that Lion King I was based off of Shakespeare's Hamlet, and Lion King II was based off of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, I think we should get some more Shakespeare-based plots going.
I've read Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and we'll probably be reading King Lear for my English class within the next couple of weeks. I also have seen A Midsummer Night's Dream in theatre.
Twelfth Night would probably be difficult to do, since disguising your gender is basically impossible for animals. I'm sure that it could be done. . . somehow. (She's the Man with Amanda Bynes is based on Twelfth Night)
Macbeth would be a fun one, but it seems a bit too close in plot to Hamlet. What with the murder of the king and his son takes off but then comes back to become king in the end (Malcolm doesn't kill Macbeth like Hamlet kills Claudius though).
A Midsummer Night's Dream would be amazingly hilarious to do, if we could pull it off. Everyone loving the wrong lion, so much drama, so fun.
I'm open to other works of Shakespeare too. If you guys have read other works of Shakespeare that might fit nicely into this plot idea, please suggest them.
Currently I really love this idea. What do you guys think of it?

I'm sure wikipedia could do a better job of explaining about these, but I'll try my best.
Twelfth Night / What You Will > Twins Sebastian and Viola are separated in a shipwreck. While both are alive, each thinks that the other is dead. For whatever reason, Viola decides to disguise herself as a man, and use the name Cesario.
Cesario goes to serve the Duke Orsino, who is in love with the Countess Olivia. Olivia does not want anything to do with the duke, who sends Cesario to woo her for him. Olivia falls in love with Cesario, and Viola falls in love with Orsino. Olivia throws herself at Cesario, who turns out not to be Cesario but actually Sebastian. Cesario reveals that she's actually Viola, the duke marries Viola, Sebastian marries Olivia.
Midsummer Night's Dream > Oberon, King of the Fairies, sends out Puck, with his magic love drops to fix an argument between a couple, but Puck ends up making matters worse, when instead of seeing their lover when they awoke, the first person they saw and therefore fell in love with was their lover's best friend, and then everything gets all confusing. Eventually it all works out.
Wikipedia could tell it better than I.

A Midsummer's night dream is hilarious.
I have seen and read the merchant of venice and guess with a little tweaking it could become a lion king plot.

I agree wholeheartedly with Kali. Midsummer Night's Dream was just my kind of play and I would love to see it played out on the site. I just hope we won't need to use Shakespeare lingo because I always had trouble following along whenever the word 'thou' was used. Otherwise, two claws up for Midsummer Night's Dream!

They don't use Shakespearian language in the Lion King movies, so unless that's someone's character's quirk, all characters will be speaking normally.
And maybe instead of having Puck the fairy and his magic drops, what about a mischievousness lion who goes around telling others about how awesome this one lion is, and then the lion being told develops a crush on the lion being spoken about because of it.
And then, everyone goes crazy trying to fall in love with the other lion, before realizing that the other lion is not exactly as awesome as they were told that the other lion was.
Midsummer Night's Dream = MY FAVOURITE SHAKESPEARIAN PLAY
It was hilarious in the theatre <3 would totally go and see it again.
But how would Bottom come into all of this. . . lol

That sounds great Dawn! ^_^ Should it all be in one pride or should it happen in all of them?

I think it would cause more problems for all the characters if it were to be between the princes and princesses of a couple of different prides. Perhaps something to do with the traditional arranged marriage between two prides.
Love the whole Shakespeare plot idea <3

I got one "The Life and Death of Julies Caesar" where the king tries to expand his empire and goes to war, finding love and stuff. He dies in the end. I googled it.
There could be all kinds of drama with a war.. It seems like a great plot. Invasions, etc...

I'd like to offer up my character Jaden. Me and Yuki have been talking about Vitani's activity. I think I am going to take back Shaman, the gray cub of Eupe and Meeko. Since hopefuly I am going to be playing Shaman then I'd love to do a arranged marriage between Sari and Shaman or Jaden.
Also do the cubs have to be the first born to be a royal marriage?
I love the idea. I really want to do it with Sari.

I came up with another idea.
Everyone thinks that Maliki's father died before he could arrange a marriage for his son. Maybe if Maliki has illegitimate heirs, perhaps some foreign princess about his age comes to the Highlands and says that she's Maliki's arranged-at-birth bride. She could be telling the truth OR perhaps she's overly ambitious and is just lying OR perhaps she gets seduced by Maliki and decides that she wants to be his queen, and that nothing will stand in her way.

a marraige between one of your lions and Sari is kinda up to Sari and Valeska (me). I'm ok with it, but Sari has to be ok with it. Ok Nima? PM her and get your answer! (if she ever comes on...)
