quick description -
caramel colored lion with a thick dark brown mane and amber colored eyes. Aged two years.
full description -
Although still a juvenile, Huru is well built after living on his own for most of his life. Having to fend for himself, he has developed noticeable muscle all over his large frame. Like the father he never knew, Huru's pelt is a rich caramel color, while his toes, muzzle, and underbelly are a much lighter shade. Huru's head is surrounded by a dark brown, shaggy mane, that continues down the front of his chest and behind his forelegs. Although Huru appears most like his father, he received his amber colored eyes from his mother. Years of living on his own have left Huru's body covered with various scars from past fights with others for survival. However, the most prominent scars are the four jagged lines all the way down his back that he received when he was attacked as a young cub.
personality -
Huru is just as someone would picture a young male lion to be. He is as stubborn and cocky as they come, and makes his opinion known. Once Huru has his mind set on something, it is not easily swayed. He likes to voice his opinion and could care less what others might think of it. As a handsome young male lion, Huru tends to be a bit show-offy and flirty when it comes to females. He is full of himself, knowing that he has been blessed with a combination of strength and good looks. However, as a result of living on his own, Huru has difficulty putting his trust in others. There is more to this lion than the facade that he puts on daily. Behind that cocky exterior he hides behind, is a lonely young lion who is still deeply affected by his mother's death. He constantly blames himself, knowing that if he were not so young, she would be alright. Since the attack, Huru has developed a grudge toward Hyenas that he hopes to one day settle with an act of revenge.
history -
My past is something that I can barely remember. I was the only cub to survive out of the litter of three that my mother gave birth to. My older brother and sister were stillborn after a complicated delivery that my mother had to endure on her own. Luckily for my mother, me, her third and final cub, was born perfectly healthy and full of life, just like she dreamed all of her children would be. Growing up, my father was not an active part in my life. When I was young my mother would always make up excuses for his absence. Every time she made up a new excuse I could see how it pained her to talk about him, and the anger she seemed to have toward the mention of him. As I grew up, I could infer what really happened: my father abandoned my mother when he found out that she was pregnant with his cubs. They had been young, acting impulsively in the throws of first love. My mother never really talked much about my father, only telling me that I was just as handsome as she remembered him being, for I was a perfect match to his appearance.
My mother and I lived alone together, wandering the savannah with nowhere to go. Sometimes I asked my mother about her family and where she grew up, but I never got an answer from her. For this reason, we never stayed in one place for too long. My mother said that we had to keep going, so I followed her where ever she led me without questioning it. If I was tired, I never complained, if I was hungry, I kept it to myself. I knew that my mother was always trying to do the best she could, so the least I could do was follow her without a word.
One day, when I was only a few months old, my mother and I stumbled upon a strange territory that my mother had never seen before. She was unsure about whether or not we should continue, but she knew in the back of her mind that we had to keep moving forward. She told me to stay close to her and be as quiet as possible. Of course I obeyed her command and walked glued to her side as we passed through the territory. All of the sudden, my mother stopped walking and her body tensed. I ducked under her legs as a strange laughing noise that I had never heard before surrounded us. Hyenas stood all around my mother and me, slowly moving closer and closer. My mother growled at them, telling them to back away but they did not stop. Before I knew it, the Hyenas attacked, some attacking my mother, while others went for me. Although she was being grabbed on all sides, my mother still managed to protect me, lashing out at the Hyenas with her claws and teeth. She shoved them away telling me to run away as fast as I could, which I did without hesitation. A few Hyenas started pursuing me, but my mother managed to stop all but one. I glanced back to see a Hyena right behind me, while my mother's roars and snarls echoed from where I had left her. I ran faster than I had before, feeling the Hyena's breath on my tail.
Although I was fast, he was faster, and in a matter of moments I felt claws race along my back. I lost my balance, tripping and rolling head over heels, until I landed with a thud on my back. I cried out in pain as the Hyena stood over me, red eyes staring down at me. I knew I couldn't let my mother down, so I lashed out at the Hyena, my tiny claws meeting his flesh. He stumbled backwards and I scrambled to my feet, sprinting away despite the pain in my back and the lack of energy. Without a backwards glance, I managed to find my way to a small rock cave with an opening just large enough for me to fit through. I shoved my body inside and lay on the cave floor, panting, crying, and shaking. I'm not exactly sure how long I stayed in that cave, but it was long enough for the claw marks on my back to stop bleeding and begin healing. When I emerged from my hiding place, I was tired, hungry and exhausted. I called continuously for my mother, but there was no response. Although I didn't know whether my mother was alive or dead, as night began to fall, I feared the worst and realized that my mother was never going to answer my call. From that moment on, I knew that I owed it to my mother to stay alive, and so I did my best to raise myself and survive on my own. I taught myself how to hunt and fight, and managed to survive the rest of time as a cub. Now an adult, I still live life on my own.
