GATHERING So it is the Dawning of our first Gathering! Huzzah! All felines who attend must either be a regional leader or a member of their leader's chosen representatives. The Gathering calls for a truce as long as the gathering shall last, and therefore socializing but no fighting will be allowed through the duration of the Gathering.
The Gathering will be in this thread only, and will last until a member of Staff Pride sees it fit to end this sacred meeting. Characters should have been asked to be on their best behavior by their leaders, and will be subject to their leader's punishment if they fail to follow orders and make a fool of their leader in front of the entire assembly.
Characters who are already involved in posts are encouraged to come too, but please remember that this thread would take place after the threads that your characters might currently be involved in.
Please enjoy yourselves and feel free to socialize with members of other prides, and please refrain from posting until after your pride's leader has posted.

[glow=brown,2,300]KAVU[/glow] He entered, unaccompanied.
His sandy mane hung over his azure blue eyes than scanned the rest of those gathered. His whiskers brushed his lightly tanned fur. His tail slowly swished near the ground, the mud colored tuft on the end of his tail the same color as the fur on the joints of his front legs. Lusciously green grass brushed his creamy paws and underfur.
He had brought no one with him. Although this may seem dangerous to some, he wasn't worried. He was a believer in the truce. Being a territory leader, he earned a spot near the front of all the gathered.
When he had arrived at the raised area reserved for leaders, he chose a spot a few pace left of the tip. He sat, his tail lightly patting the ground in anticipation. He was the first leader to arrive. This didn't bother him. He was as accustomed to attention as he was to hardship. Legend: Thoughts "My words" "Others' words"

Swift paw steps carried a muscular lion through the brush. Tan fur was only slightly darker then Miyuki's. His dark brown, near black mane billowed in the wind. Its fullness was noteable, for he was older then some. About six or seven, to be more precise. His eyes were dark, though soft as cocoa. However hardened within them was a serious tone, his demeanor proud. He had to be. He was a leader, he was representing the oldlands. Thoughts of his parents threats and his arranged betrayal that he no longer wished in the least to fulfill filled his mind. He wondered if the other lions sensed his nervousness. He would protect them with his life.. It was then that a ground hog came up from a hole in the ground, some distance away from the gathering. "Sir, news from the underground! Your parents.. Have died.. In lake. They drowned. That is all I know for now. My condolences." He said, and with that did a flip in the air, burrowing back into the ground. He looked at the place where the ground hog had been. He felt oddly relieved.. At least no harm had come to Eupe or his soon to be born cubs. He sighed, looking down. He had barely loved his parents, but the news that they were dead, gone, was still hard to bear. However, he forced himself to stand up straight and walk forward. He looked around for Eupe, knowing she was following. Hopefully she wouldn't bring up his parents if she had heard, for he did not really want to discuss his parents any time soon. Drowning.. How odd.. It wasn't like them to just swim for fun. Pushing it out of his mind, he looked back to the hole where the ground hog had been, then approached the gathering spot.
His eyes went to the other leaders, who were here already.. Two of them anyway. He took a spot next to Maliki, giving a respectful nod. He swallowed hard. News of his parents death slowly sank in. He noticed that Miyuki seemed like like him in appearance, but it only crossed his mind for a moment. Then he refocused on the matters at hand. He had heard of bickerings, so to speak. Disturbances in other lands.. Threats? He could only believe so much.. But he did believe that if there were serious threats that this would be a disaster in the works.. What would happen when leaders met leaders, feuding and on the brink of war? War.. Why, it could happen at any moment. He looked at the other two lions calmly, not showing any fear. He had cubs to look after... What if he had to give one of those cubs up to an arranged marriage for the pride to be better allied with another? Inhaling deeply, he had lots of news to think about, and wondered briefly how much of it he should inform the other lions of.

Her immaculate white pelt shone from some distance away from the Gathering. She pranced lightly over to the stone on which all the other leaders sat, including her Meeko. Her stomach was in mid-bulge by now, making her seem obviously pregnant. She didn't mind. She didn't care what others thought.
She leaped onto the rock and moved next to Maliki and Kavu, powerful kings from the Highlands and Grasslands. She, herself, was considered quite politically powerful normally. Now, most would take advantage of her pregnancy as a weakness. Although, she refused to give them quarter. She held her head high with a very Queen-like posture.
She sat between Meeko and Maliki, stroking her tail over Meeko's in an arc. She nuzzled Meeko under his chin with the top of her head while purring. Nobody had spoken yet, but she didn't need words. Legend: Thoughts "My words" "Others' words"

She had spent much time cleaning and primming, making sure she looked presentable for the great gathering. Normally, she would be against such social meetings with the other prides, especially the Lowlanders, and wouldn't care what she looked like, but Maliki had asked her and Arra personally to attend. She supposed she should take some pride in that-Maliki trusted her enough to represent their pride. She moved towards the Gathering, her pace brisk, her head held high. The closer she got however, the more nervous she became. She hoped she looked decent; she had spent a lot of time in the river bordering their lands, so her coat shone in the sunlight.
She could see Maliki and the other royalty coming into view, and her green eyes flitted between each leader. Eupe and Meeko, rulers of the Oldlands, respectable lions each from what she had heard. On her right, Kavu, strong and blonde. She had to admit she didn't know much about him but looking at him from here he was quite handsome. Between Kavu and Eupe, her own king, Maliki. He looked so regal, so...authoritative sitting among the other royalty; it was a shame his flirtatious reputation preceeded him. She was almost proud of him. Taking a quick glance around, Jiraa realized Apocalypse hadn't appeared at this meeting. Either she didn't belong to any of the prides, or she hadn't been chosen. Jiraa snorted. Good. Maliki needed as few distractions as possible, and Apocalypse definately counted as a major distraction. For now, she gave Maliki his credit and pushed the thought to the back of her mind.
She came to a halt next to the rock, and sat down gently, but not before bowing in front of the regality in front of her. Her muscles rippled under her fur, and her green gaze was calm and composed, betraying none of her inner emotions. They only had to wait now. She just hoped things wouldn't get ugly when Kazabu and his entourage showed up.

The Vinelanders had chosen not to attend the gathering. She was aware of that. She also didn't really care, because she was curious. As sure as prey ran when chased, she scurried toward objects of curiosity. However, she wished she hadn't come when she saw the strange lions there. Not many so far, but they were still strangers. Strangers that might not like her being here. She didn't know how they worked. After all, if the mothers of different cubs had different rules, the leaders of different territories would have different rules too. Maybe they ate strange cubs? The idea sent a shiver through her spine. But she wouldn't be a coward. Not a chance. They were strangers, though. Surely if she was to be found they'd catch her scent, but they seemed to be engaged in their own things.
She poked her nose out from her little hidey-hole by the group, slowly leaning forward to poke her head out, until she simply stumbled forward. She wanted to run back, having startled at the sudden loss of balance, but her paws disobeyed her, and instead she stood where she was, lowered close to the ground, bewildered eyes flitting between the regal adults in front of her. 'Oh please, oh please, oh please don't let them notice me!' It was all she could do to keep from totally panicking, was make herself as small as possible. Still, her nerves were too on edge to listen to the demands of her young mind. So she focused on breathing. In, out. In, out.
Hopefully she wouldn't garner much attention, could get her nerve back, and move to the edge of the gathering. That would be the rational solution. Part of her also wanted to pounce a lion and run away - that would be dumb, and she was scared of what they'd do anyway. She didn't even consider just leaving, for she'd come too far to go back now. No, she'd just... Hang back. Yeah. That sounded good.

[glow=orange,2,300]Valeska[/glow] A lioness, the mirror image of the night sky, entered the area of the gathering. Her nose twitched as she scented all the different prides. Never had she smelled so many prides together! The earth rumbled under her delicate paws as the many lions were gathering. She didn't know if all her pride would attend, but she had told them and warned them to act respectfully, as if though they wre standing before all the great kings. The earth changed to rock as she followed the scent of the kings and queens. Sitting down near Eupe, Valeksa sighed nervously. Never had she attended a gathering before, and she wasn't sure what the point was.

Kosa Kosa sat at the foot of the rock as the leaders gathered above. Eupe, Meeko, Valeska, Kavu, Maliki. All leaders from different lands, except Eupe and Meeko of course. He noticed that Simba and Nala weren't there, along with leaders from the Vinelands. He didn't know if there were any more prides to be coming, but he knew to behave. Kosa glanced warily around, looking for his beloved Nima. Would she risk leaving the cubs? Should he return to her? Thoughts like those kept running through his mind. He wanted desperatly to return to Nima, but he didn't want to let down Eupe.

NALA, -Queen of the Pridelands-[/font] Nala's paws had padded on the ground towards the gathering of the kings and queens. She had come before Simba but figured he would show sooner or later. She could see the other Kings and Queens with some others and when she reached them she sat down looking at the others in front of her. She sat high and proud her blue eyes glaring at all the rest who were here. Hearing no one speak Nala wasn't the shy one at all. "Good evening everyone." Nala said in her normal voice. She looked at the other Queens to see only few.
Nala just sat where she was wondering what everyone was thinking. She looked at the White lioness queen known as Eupe and could see the bulge on her stomach and smiled towards her. Nala could remember when Kopa and Kiara were born and she bowed her head to Eupe lightly. "Congrats on your cubs there Eupe." She said kindly. Nala was friendly to others but, if one was to attack her well it wouldn't of been pleasant. She could take down Simba with witnesses to prove it.

The soft footfalls of four massive paws could faintly be heard as they made contact with the soft earth beneath them. Each paw rose and fell at a rapid pace, as the feline to whom they belonged worked his way across the African plains. His nostrils flared as they followed his mate's familiar scent, who had passed through here only a short time ago. She had gone ahead of him while he had finished his daily patrol of their territory, making sure the Pridelands would be safe for the rest of the pride while the King and Queen were away.
As Simba entered the clearing, his eyes immediately fell upon the leaders of each Pride; most seated on top of the rock already. The king of the Pridelands made his way through the open space, respectfully acknowledging every lion or lioness who was present. His rust colored eyes refocused on what lay in front of him, and locked instantly onto Nala. He padded toward her, giving her a subtle, affectionate touch as a greeting. He took a seat beside her, as his eyes scanned over the others to take note of who was present for the first Gathering.

Kijana's jaws opened wide as a yawn escaped, rolling over to his feet and shaking the dust from his fur. Today was the day of the gathering, and his parents had chosen him to be the Vinelands representative. However, the young brute had no interest in going, but he'd shirked so many duties lately that he knew this one was one he could not simply look over. The golden brute ambled towards the invisible boundary separating territories, and headed in the direction of the gathering. As he entered the clearing, the male scanned the area with his blue eyes, taking in the ones that had gotten him before him before finally settling on the images of Simba and Nala. Briefly after, his gaze found Moto, a Vinelands lioness. Tilting his head slightly, he gazed at the lioness for a few more seconds before deciding to settle beside her.
It was clear through the young male's bored expression that he had been forced to be here by his parents. Returning his gaze back towards Simba, he wondered silently to himself how this meeting would go. Kijana had noticed that there was one representative from almost every territory, with the exceptions of the Badlands and the Outlands, though that was not necessarily surprised, considering this meeting was to bring about a truce, something the Outlanders may not have been interested in. Glancing over at Moto, the golden brute flashed a charming smile briefly before speaking, Did I miss anything important?
Stretching slightly and letting out a slight yawn, he wondered why it was so important to his parents that he be here instead of them. Perhaps they were attempting to teach him some type of responsibility, to stop shirking his responsibilities as a prince.

((ooc: I hope nobody minds if I reply now... It's been a while. :/)) [!]Moto[!]
Wait a moment... Had she heard wrong? She could have sworn the lions back home had said that they weren't going to be a part of the gathering, and yet, their prince was right here, beside her. She had gradually relaxed as none of the other lions seemed to pay attention to her, but she wasn't off guard as the prince sat by her. What if she got in trouble? She was just a cub, maybe she actually wasn't allowed to come?
She never really had respected the King and Queen as being above them, either. But not only did he sit next to her - the Prince, too - he spoke to her, almost as an equal lion. "Did I miss anything important?" he asked. Like she'd know what's important! But she hadn't seen anything happen. For being one who didn't respect the social classes much, her mind seemed to be over-reacting to the prince having spoken to her. Maybe it was less that is was the prince of the pride, and more that... An older lion had actually bothered to take notice of her. Back home, it was almost always just her mom or siblings...
As was decent, she replied, upfront, as was her nature. She wouldn't let anybody know she'd been startled! That was a sign of weakness! "I don't think so. Just a bunch of other prides showing up." Of course, perhaps being startled was part of being a cub. Either way, why reveal it? It would just feed the ego of the lion whose social ranking was above her own. Who needed ranks anyway? She'd just act like she was supposed to be here all along. Then maybe she wouldn't get sent home. Her option to just slink back into the trees was gone, so... Yeah, that was her next choice.
Of course, he didn't seem to be all that excited to be here. He'd rather be on another adventure. Curiosity hadn't fueled him like it had her. Maybe that was an area in which she could potentially have him beat? Surely he'd be the better in experience, but she could hope.

[glow=orange,2,300]Valeska[/glow] Valeska turned her head towards Maliki. Of course you may. The bulk of the kings and queens have arrived so the gathering may continue. Speak at will, Maliki. She turned to face the front and frowned when the scent of Mheetu did not greet her. She wrapped her tail around her paws and raised her head. The gathering was about to start.

As the conversations between different assemblers of the gathering continued below him, Simba's eyes moved over his fellow leaders. Kings and Queens of the Oddlands, Drylands, and Highlands were all present, in addition to fellow members of each of their respected prides. Simba was quick to notice the absence of some of some of the pride leaders. The Prideland's king assumed they would wait for the attendance of their fellow leaders before the commencement of the gathering.
Simba was proven wrong however, when the young king Maliki's voice was heard. The king of the Pridelands turned his head in Maliki's direction as he called the attention of the members of the gathering. Simba allowed one more glance to wander to the audience, taking into account that the missing leaders had still yet to arrive. As Maliki requested the opportunity to speak first, he was given permission by the Dryland's queen. Also in agreement with his request, Simba's gaze met the Highland King's as he nodded in acceptance.

NALA, -Queen of the Pridelands-[/font] Nala began to notice others appearing. After her mate arrived she gave him a smile and greeted him after. She sat next to her king while others joined them. A younger lion spoke and Nala just sat there and listened. Nala would stand by and watch the others carefully leaders from other prides had followers whereas it was just her and Simba. Then the Highlands king began to speak and Nala turned her attention towards him. "Valeska is right Maliki, Speak at will." Nala said in a normal voice. She looked at Simba for an inch of a second.
She looked at the other pride leaders and the members that have joined them. She had noticed her brother had not joined Valeska. She was also surprised Kiara had not come but Nala knew she was probably with Kovu. The Queen of the pridelands kept her ears raised but, she looked at the members that were here and those that were not. She could only turn her attention back to the Highlands King. She sat next to her king now with a straight face. All the leaders were taking a chance coming here but, this gathering was important after all.
