Well I wrote this small little thing out of boredom one day and I couldn't find any place more suitable to post it, soo, I'll just throw it here.
TWO FRIENDS
--------
"Oh there you are! I was looking for you, Mhusiku! Wanna g-" Samaki's excited voice was interrupted as the scrawny blonde lion before her scowled and said, "Leave me alone, princess," exhagerrating the last word rudely.
"I don't have time for that right now," he added, turning his head away before he abruptly sat on his haunches, his back facing her. His eyes lowered towards his paws in disappointment, even his ears drooped.
"Hey now! You know I hate it when you call me princess. I won't ever be a queen anyway..." she trailed off on her rant, stepping up besides her best friend to sit down next to him.
She could see he was very upset about something. Her amber eyes turned towards the darkening horizon, the last light of the sun glinting in her eyes. The cool breeze held the ever familiar scent of the sea, as well as the sounds of the water birds above.
"Yeah.. That's right.. I won't ever be any queen. I'm only the heir's useless sister!
I'll be just like all the other pride-sisters. I don't even know why our pride has that stupid 'family tradition'!" she emphasized the last two words in a mocking deep voice. She sighed, her ears laying flat on her head. "I can't believe I have to be betrothed.
That's so pointless! I don't want to be mates with some one I don't even like! I won't even be a queen like I said, my brother is the only one that needs to be betrothed," she ranted onwards, once again adding that mock deep voice, " 'Samaki! Don't talk back to
your father! It's your duty as a princess to marry Yhuto'. Yhuto, Yhuto, Yhuto, it's all I ever hear!" she stomped her paw down on the damp wooden surface of the fallen tree.
For a few minutes, all was silent as the both of them sat side by side, watching the sun lazily set.
The young, pale lioness looked back towards Mhusiku, forgetting that she had meant to ask him what was wrong. He seemed pretty down in the dumps as she had been.
"Uhh.. Mhusiku," she said in a softer voice, looking him in the eyes, "why are you sad today?"
She could see his once irritated look was now gone, but replaced by a look of deep disappointment.
He slowly let out a large sigh.
"Well.. hunting was unsuccessful," he admitted, his head hanging lower.
A smile graced Samaki's muzzle upon hearing this, and she said cheerfully, "Oh that's not such a bad thing, you don't need to be so upset over it,"
"But Samaki! I've never lost a hunt before in my LIFE! It's my passion," he sighed, looking at her pleadingly.
"Well don't worry about it, Mu. All of us are unsuccessful sometimes. Please don't be so dragged down by it," she smiled again, wrapping her foreleg over his back, earning a rewarding smile in return. Samaki was always there for him, be him happy or sad.
