“I'm not just a princess, you know. That's only half of who I am!”
KIARA
Nicknames: n/a[/blockquote]
Gender: Female - Lioness
Age: Five
Species: Lion
Homeland: Pridelands
Rank: Princess, Heir, Hunter
Quick Description: A lioness with a creamy golden pelt and red-brown eyes.
Full Description:
Kiara, in a sense, has traits from both of her parents, though it seems that she looks more like her father than anything else. Like her mother, though, she has a very slim yet strong build, which helps to enable her to be talented as a hunter. Her pelt, seeming to be a slightly creamy color, is tainted to be a bit of a darker color seeing as how she seemed to inherit a bit of the color from her father's fur. The color contrasts well with her eyes though, which are a reddish-brown color, which is a trait she inherited from both her father and grandfather. Height wise though, Kiara isn't exactly a towering giant. In fact, she is rather short, for even her mother is taller than her, and most males in the pride are certainly taller than her as well. But her height doesn't bother her, mainly because there is still a little more room for her to grow. Overall, Kiara is certainly quite beautiful for her age, and certainly holds the look of a future Queen.
Personality:
As a cub, Kiara was more than a little curious, and it was this trait that would normally get her into trouble. She doesn't really have this trait as much anymore, for she is more responsible than she was as a cub, although she still seems to find her way into trouble one way or another. Despite this troublesome side of her, Kiara is still a good person on the inside, and can be quite serious and responsible in the right situation.
Now, normally, Kiara can also be quite the stubborn young lion, often liking to do things her own way when she chooses to do so, despite the fact that the action could be stupid. If she feels it's right, then she will follow through. It is the reason that she has Kovu in her life at all now, and it is for that reason that Kiara has chosen to trust that instinct no matter what other may be telling her. Other times though this instinct does just simply get into more trouble than she would prefer.
Overall though, Kiara is a very kind hearted lion, and is normally friendly with most that she comes across. She doesn't believe in discriminating anyone, no matter where they come from. In her mind, everyone is equal. Despite her bad qualities that she has kept since a cub, she does have the potential to be a great leader of the pride, and although she does want to live up to her father's name, she does still have a few doubts here and there about taking up the mantle of Queen beside Kovu.
Goals:
The only things Kiara truly wishes for in her life are that she may have a family of her own one day and that she may rule over the Pridelands just as well as her father.
History:
As a cub, Kiara was always more than just a little bit of trouble. She had always been curious and would find her way in to situations that were never really safe, much to the disappointment of her father. She certainly gave him a run for his money on more than one occasion, and it was for this reason she'd always recieve constant lectures. But that never stopped her from going out and exploring the Pridelands whenever she could.
It was one day on one of these explorations that Kiara came across someone she would never forget. Kovu, a young cub who, at the time, was a member of the Outlanders pride. She had found her way into the Outlands for curiosity purposes once more, and it was then she had run across the young cub. Taunts were passed back and forth between the pair, but eventually the cub began to wander off and be on his way. But Kiara hadn't been one to let anything slide all to easily, and so it was then she followed after him, determined to prove that she was a lot more brave than the cub had stated she wasn't.
That was when the trouble really started.
Crocodiles was what the cubs encountered, and after much chaos they had gotten away. It was after that little adventure that Kiara felt attached to the other cub in a small way, and when they exchanged words again, they were no longer harsh with one another, and she had seen a friend in him that day. But that was when their parents showed up, and tension rose in the air. Zira and Simba had exchanged their own harsh words before Simba had taken Kiara away.
Another lecture was given once they returned home, but daughter and father soon made up with one another after that. It was after that moment that Kiara seemed to calm down more as a cub in the following years. She became a bit more relaxed, although her attitude didn't exactly leave her all that much. But she became a bit more responsible. Maybe it was that she didn't want to stress her father out anymore than she already had in the past, or maybe her mother's words of countless advice had finally reached her, but whatever it was, it worked.
It was the day of her first hunt by herself that Kiara remembers so well. She had been so excited and thrilled to finally be able to go and prove to both the Pride and her father that she was more than capable of taking care of herself. And so it was that she set out for the hunt. She had been almost successful when hunting some antelope, but she had made a noise to startle the animals, and they had scattered. She had been frustrated and upset, but she became even more so when she discovered Timon and Pumba to be following her, and it was then she knew her father had sent them despite his promise to let her do this on her own.
Still upset Kiara had fled, leaving Timon and Pumba behind quickly, and it was then she found herself near the herd that originally fled. Hoping for a second chance she prepared herself to pounce, but once more she alerted them to her presence and they ran. At first she had given chase, but when they were suddenly bounding towards her in retreat from a wild fire she was running too.
She tried to escape the flames, but every where she went they seemed to block her, and soon her only option became a ledge high above the quickly crawling flames. She jumped and was able to make it to the ledge, and although she was able to pull herself up, she soon passed out from both the intake of smoke and being weak from fleeing the flames. But she hadn't lost consciousness before she had seen the figure in the smoke who had approached her.
Upon re-awakening she found herself on shore beside a small lake, the flames long behind her, and in the presence of another lion. At first she doesn't know who he is and attempts to get away from him, outraged that he had brought her back to the place she was trying to get away from, but she soon realized that it was Kovu, the young cub she had met so many years ago. She had been happy to see him, but it was the interjection of her father that ruined things.
He had been furious at seeing the young lion, and wanted him gone, but after some persuading and reminding him that Kovu had saved her life, Kovu was allowed back to Pride Rock. It was in the days following that Kiara spent what time she could with Kovu, enjoying the company of her old friend and growing closer with him, despite the opinion of her father. She was happy to see him again and knew in her heart that she wasn't about to loose him again no matter what her father's opinion on things were.
Eventually, Kiara realized that she had feelings of more than just friendship for the lion, but things were ruined once more by events that occurred with her father. He had gone out to speak with Kovu, but had returned limping and injured, and it was then the pride learned of Kovu's deceit. Kiara became heartbroken, and although the young lion was banished, she soon followed after him, determined to be with him because she did not believe he had had a part in the plot against her father.
There was a moment after she found him that she considered leaving with him like he suggested, but she knew that was wrong, and knew in her heart they would have to return to the pride. And so it was that they set out together. But when they arrived, the two prides had come together merely to battle it out, an all out war on the brink of breaking loose. Kiara had jumped in between the two prides along with Kovu without fear, standing against her father with determination.
He told her to back down, to get out of the way, but she refused, and after giving a small speech of her own to the two prides, the crisis was averted, and the lions began to unite. But Zira, outraged that she would not get her revenge, had sprung on Kiara, and the two soon fell over the cliff and into a ravine. Kiara landed on a ledge, and in her nature she tried to help Zira and pull her up with her, but she was horrified when the lioness denied and let herself fall into the rushing waters below, falling to her death.
Her father came to her rescue after that, and she was happily reunited with her family and Kovu. It was then that her father finally accepted Kovu, and upon returning to Pride Rock, Kiara took to the young lion she loved instantly, soon proclaiming to be his mate and no one else's after that. Now she is living happily with her family and her mate, hoping one day that she will be able to live up to her father's name and be a good Queen and rule over the Pridelands justly. But for now she is merely content with her life with Kovu, and wouldn't have it any other way.
