Hey everyone,
I know for a while different site-wide plot ideas have been thrown around, although none of them have really been put into action. We've had some great ideas involving characters causing problems among the prides and other conflicts along those lines that I think should definitely be put to use at some point. However, as of right now I don't feel we have enough members to get plots like these off the ground. Many of them also require using canon characters that are still waiting for someone to play them.
So for now, I was thinking of a more simplistic site-wide plot that would affect each of the prides, cause conflict and tension among them, and maybe even encourage some to come together. Since this plot would not involve any specific characters or specific prides, I'm hoping that it will bring enough muse to the site to see some more threads being posted and help us gain some new, active members.
So what I was thinking is something along the lines of a drought that spreads across the territories and affects each of the prides. It would mean vegetation drying out, putting territories at risk for fires and causing lack of food for the carnivores as the grazing animals migrate in search for food. The watering holes would dry up and leave very little to drink, and the sun would just be unbearable. As a result, the prides would have to ration whatever food and water they have left in order to survive. There would be starvation and thirst that could bring the prides together to try to come up with a solution, and also cause conflict among them as members of the different prides search for resources in the other territories.
I know this is a very vague description of the plot, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought about it before I typed up a formal version of it. As far as the plot progression goes, I was thinking of making an announcement every few days that would state the current conditions in the territories and we would follow that. For example: Most of the vegetation in the area is dead causing herds of animals to migrate in search of food.
So just let me know what you guys think, and feel free to add in some ideas or suggestions if you have them. Hopefully we can get a plot up and running to bring us some new members!

This idea has both Nala and Kopa's support. I love the idea of bringing them together, friends and enemies alike, and having them depend on their fellow brother or sister for survival. The irony of it all should definitely be muse inspiring.
A certain 'lost' prince may even make his return...

Good idea! Though... Drylands wouldn't really be affected by the drought... They already pretty much have a drought all year.... ^^;

Kopa's return would definitely be an interesting twist, especially with all the problems the drought is causing.
That's true, Cherry, I didn't really think of that xP Since the Drylands is a desert already, maybe the drought could have made the heat there more intense so that it is becoming more difficult to live there with the temperatures so high and barely any water or vegetation already.

So here's what I've typed up for the plot. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of this and if it makes sense to you guys or not/needs to be edited in any way before we post it officially. I'm planning on making a new side table for the weather where I will post a new update on the drought every few days that everyone can follow in their threads. So when we start off, the first announcement will be about how the seasonal rain failed to arrive and the temperatures are becoming noticeably higher than usual. Then every few days new changes will be added such as the plants/watering hole drying up, animals migrating, etc. So just let me know what you guys think! I'm excited to get this going (:
Living in various territories across the African savannah, lions and other creatures alike are used to intense heat and little seasonal rainfall. They have grown accustomed to the dry landscape and dwindling water supply that occurs before each rainfall. Despite precipitation being so scarce, it has always been a regular occurrence across the territories, coming at the same time each year. The annual rains refill the watering holes and quench the dry earth, bringing life to the vegetation that survives here. It lowers the unbearable temperatures across the lands, allowing a few days respite from the blazing rays of the sun.
So when the rainy season comes and goes without any precipitation, it becomes a cause for concern across the lands. The heat throughout the territories becomes unbearable with nothing to shield the land from the blaring rays of the sun. The already dry land becomes cracked and broken with very little moisture remaining in the soil. The vegetation becomes dry and dead, leaving no source of food for the grazing animals that call these lands home. While water sources dry up, becoming small puddles on the dry earth.
As a result, many of the grazing animals begin to migrate in search of food and water in other areas. They have left behind prides of carnivorous lions without any source of food. The lions are starving, thirsty, and struggling to survive in the unbearable heat. Many seek the help of those in other territories to try to come up with a solution to the problem, while others are only concerned with their own survival. Some prides try to ration their resources for their own members, only to have them stolen by outsiders trying to help their own prides. The victims of a rare drought, lions throughout the territories have found themselves struggling for survival against the elements and against each other. While the drought may bring some closer together, it could tear others apart.
