He was caught up in his thoughts, in the most selfish and self-centered way. He didn't even realize he was doing it. Then, he heard Rita scream. It was a scream of pure terror and pre-existing hurt. Then he knew what he had done to her.
He ran, his limbs numb from shock and guilt. When he converged on the scene, she saw the blood that flowed down her face, so much so that he wasn't sure where the wound was. He nudged her with his nose, urging her to get up, while licked some of the blood from her white fur. He was helplessly lost, not sure what to do or say. OOC:: Sorry I've been absent for a week, school has just been so busy and all that jazz. I also apologize for this post. It's very fail-y. I don't have much muse right now.

Kasim's attention was caught by a loud smack] and an ear shattering scream that reverberated through the Badlands. He whipped his head around in time to see the water buffalo ram into Rita. Shock made him speechless for once. In an instant his brother was gone. And almost just as quick, Kasim was by his side.
He padded up to Rita slowly, not knowing what to do. Her white face was now stained red from her long wound. He took a quick look around, and saw the calf carcass lying a ways off to the side. That was what triggered the attack, he realized. He wanted to scold Rita for her stupidity; you never eat a calf carcass without making sure it was abandoned first. But Nharo's helpless expression told him now was not the time. He didn't know what was going through his mind, but he looked pained at the situation. Maybe there was more to the girlfriend crack after all...
"Look, I know you're hurting badly, but we need to get out of here. Now. In case that mama buffalo comes back to finish the job." He looked warily to where the beast that weighed much more than the three of them combined. She was still around, watching in the distance, daring them to touch her deceased child again. Kasim turned back nervously, though his face was one of leadership, and for once, kindness. "How far do you think you can walk?" OOC: Nima, please keep in mind posting order. I know you're excited Yuki's back, but posting order keeps everything organized and makes sure everyone can progress in the thread. Just a reminder.

OOC: You got the magic that even when museless, your posts still are awesome. Don't worry about it. You'll get your muse back.
EDIT still in OOC: I deleted my post and reposted it now, with Kasim now included in it.. so the posting order can resume as it was. Nharo, your turn. =D
It was all in slow motion... The snort of the beast, the sudden charge and the slash across her face was there, having barely missed her eyes. Her tears only made it burn more, she was screaming, and she barely heard her own screams as she closed her eyes tightly. Suddenly she was aware of something moving, she flinched as she felt a nose. Her eyes opened, she squinted at the being before her.. "Nharo!" She felt like she had screamed it, but it only came out in a tone barely above a whisper.. A soft sqeak compared to a roar, a helpless, pitiful.. and yet happy sound.
She felt his tongue against her, wiping clean some of the blood. He was urging her to get up by his body motion, she slowly rose. The beast that had charged her had wandered off, yet stood snorting as a warning... Her eyes stared at the beast, half squinting through the blood and tears.. Her physical pain was so bad that she had forgotten her inner pain. Nharo stood before her, and she stood on shaky legs for a moment. Then she gave a soft lick to his chest, before leaning against him. "Its... okay... Its okay..." She breathed... She got a little bit of her sarcasim back. "Don't you know I'm tougher then that by now?" She hoped to get a laugh from him.. At least a chuckle or a smile. Her eyes closed tightly, she shivered.. Her body against his felt good.. Even if he didn't like her, she would savor this feeling, with her body against his, for a long, long time. Then she whispered softly..
"I forgive you."
At that moment she heard a voice, and she grimaced. She recongnized it with a grunt of displeasure as Nharo's brother.. Kasim. He was telling her that she needed to get out of here, in case mama buffalo came back. She closed her eyes tightly, not wanting to move. She heard him ask, "How far do you think you can walk?" She glared up at him, then looked at Nharo. Letting out a sigh, she knew she had to move. "Fine.. But.. I'm not doing it for you." She spat at Kasim, getting up slowly and standing on wavering legs. She leaned against Nharo once more, giving him a soft nuzzle against his shoulder with the dry side of her face. "I'll be okay.." she whispered. Then she looked down, avoiding Kasim's gaze.. Instead she was looking at the 'mama buffalo' who was eyeing her and the lions, pawing at the ground. "Soo..." She looked carefully up at Kasim. "What next, genius?"

He smiled at her. Even in the extremities of her pain, she still had humor. He realized how much he liked this.
When Kasim spoke, distantly to Nharo, only a couple of words clicked, "... hurting badly... get out of here..." He nodded mindlessly and slipped his head under Rita's legs. With a heave, he launched her to be in line with the spine on his back. She was light while he was strong.
"Come on." He trotted at a measured pace in the opposite direction as the mother, saving his strength and energy. The disaster would not distract him from his true desire.
He would kill his father.

Kasim was hardly surprised that his brother could lift the younger cub onto his back, but considering she was badly injured and dead weight right now, he was impressed. He turned away from the buffalo, quickly over taking his brother. He wanted as much distance as possible between them and the carcass. Soon, he realized they were heading in the direction of the Highlands, and looked back quisitively at Nharo. Had he begun walking this way on purpose?
Kasim was smart enough to know that this idea was probably suicidal. But now was not the time to scold Nharo, not until they could drop Rita and get a moment of privacy. His mind reeled, and silence filled the air as they trod across the desolate land, their paws leaving crooked tracks in the dust. His orange eyes flitted across the landscape, and he couldn't help but feel disgust. How Mother could leave us in this wasteland is beyond me..
Another thought, a foolish one, crossed into his mind. Maybe-and it was a huge, and most likely impossible, maybe-if they succeeded in killing their father they could live in the Highlands. The land was much more pleasurable than theirs; quite frankly, any land would be more pleasurable than the Badlands. They would have food in their bellies, soft ground to lie on instead of hard rocks for a bed. He shook his head. What was he thinking? He couldn't let Nharo's foolishness rub off on himself. Kasim let out an audible sigh, and put his gaze straight ahead.

Rita was leaning against Nharo when she thought she saw him smile, and before she knew it he had moved, and she fell halfway to the ground, before she was swept up and thrown onto his back. Her paws landed sqaurely around Nharo's shoulders, her face in his growing mane. She shifted one paw down over his chest, the other around his neck. It felt good to be against his body, an she did not care where they were headed to.. did not really think about it too much either.. Until the realization hit her like a brick to the face... and then she realized the direction they were going. The highlands. What would become of them if the pride tried to rebel against them and attack them as well? Rita surely wouldn't survive if the whole pack joined in, but her mind was on Nharo... What if he didn't survive and she did? Could she really go on with that guilt? And she realized another thing...
"Nharo.." She whispered softly, "I love you.. no matter what.." And with that she licked him behind his ear, wrapping her paws all the more tightly around him, her voice sincere as she thought mentally, <Just don't get yourself killed..> With that, they were on their way to the highlands, and Rita's worries could only increase.
OOC: After you both reply, were you wanting to make a new thread?

Rita and Kasim had both noticed his intentions, of course he should have exspected this. They weren't stupid. Then again, neither was he and he refused to beleive any of his ideas were either. This idea was a pure stroke of true genius, and he was appauled at anyone who thought otherwise. In all senses, he was and still is a lion with no bad ideas. Thus, he began to play the game. This game was like any other.
Plot out your moves step by step. Don't move without a purpose. Outright victory is the only option. The only path to outright victory is death. The only death in such a game was quick and quiet, so no one would know. No one will know.
He growled to himself.
I live for the game. You die for it.
The plot begins, and it never, never ends. OOC:: Yes, once Kasim replies that what I planned to do. I'll make a thread in the Highlands. In that span of time, Nharo will relay the following plan to Kasim and Rita: "We'll use Rita's injury as an excuse to stay. They will feel sorry for her and take her, as well as us, in to their tribe. We'll prove valuble for protection and hunting and will become permanent members of the pride. Then, the three of us will attack my father and kill him. Then, come back and blame and claim all we want. We'll be trusted. We'll live a happy, prosperous life without that lion."

Kasim's stride never broke, though he had a bad feeling about Nharo's whole scheme. Setting out to kill their father? A male who was years older than them? They didn't even know what he looked like. Kasim looked at his brother again. Technically, they were twins, born at the same time. But they looked nothing alike. Kasim barely remembered what their mother looked like, so he doubted they would recognize their "father" when they saw him...if they saw him. He had a whole slew of questions for his brother, but he kept them to himself.
After about a half hour, they reached the border. Kasim halted, knowing that no matter what he did they would probably go forward with this. He looked to Nharo and Rita, nothing but seriousness on his face. "You know once we do this, there's no turning back right?" He wanted to make sure that Nharo understood the gravity of what he was about to set out to do. If he felt any, could his brother live with the guilt of killing their own flesh and blood? Their mother had drilled into their heads, all you had was family. And here they were, preparing to kill the last living family they knew they had. He wondered if the risk was worth taking, but they would find out soon enough. " Whatever you decide, I will stick by you, brother." If Nharo was dead set on this mission, it was Kasim's duty to at least make sure he didn't die in the process.

Her eyes closed as she got used to the steady pitter patter and clunking, along with the bumping up and down, bobbing around.. And realized they really were going to do this. She was going to kill a lion she didn't even know for this guy... And his brother and himself were going to be her accomplices.. She had to do this, to prove to Nharo that she would be loyal till the end...
"I'm with you, Nharo.. I will help as much as I can.. " And then they relayed the plan to her, that she would be a sort of bait.. Her injury would serve some sympathy and pity, they would welcome them.. when they were close to the lion, they'd strike.
"Lets do this." She said sternly, with fierce passion. With that, they were on their way to the highlands.
