If a heart could break for anyone, Kijana’s heart would have broken for Nyota. Rising to his feet, the male placed himself closer to the dark lioness before settling back into a sitting position, eyes placed on her once again, Well, Nyota, it’s nice to meet you. Even if they are under such circumstances. His ears turned forward on his head as he drank in her words. Any choice she made put her in a lose-lose situation. Reaching forward slightly, he nudged her shoulder softly with his nose before speaking again, There is always a way out of a bad situation. Sometimes the escape isn’t always in the form we expected.
After a momentary pause, Kijana rose to his feet, Come with me, to the Vinelands. I can offer you a new home, protection in my lands. I intend to allow no one to hurt you so long as I’m around. It was a bold move, and he knew it. The young prince knew his parents would be furious with him, but at this point they were the last of his concern. His concern was this lioness in front of him, and the fact that if she followed through or didn’t follow through, the prospect of her life being in danger was unchanged.

Nyota listened to Kijana's words. There is always a way out of a bad situation. Sometimes the escape isn’t always in the form we expected. Come with me, to the Vinelands. I can offer you a new home, protection in my lands. I intend to allow no one to hurt you so long as I’m around. Indeed, the escape had come in an unexpected way. Through a prince. Why is it that you offer me shelter when I am a trained assassin? She was genuinely puzzled by Kijana's offer. Either way, I accept your offer. But won't your parents be angry? I don't believe they like Outlanders...

Her question echoed in his ears and he remained silent for a few brief moments before responding, Because your heart is in a good place, conflicting with your training. There are two sides to everyone, both good and bad. I don’t believe we should judge someone for what they were taught, but what we see in them ourselves. It was true in his mind. He had seen some good lurking in her heart, and he had seen there was more hope for her in another pride than with the Outlanders. Kijana could see if she stayed with them and carried out her mission, she would eventually be destroyed in one way or another.
As she mentioned his parents, the young king chuckled and grinned directly at her, Ah, my wonderful parents. They’ll be angry, but they are almost always angry with me. It makes no bit of difference to me what they think nor say. If it’s a problem, we can simply go elsewhere on our own. However, I don’t think it will come to that. I’m sure you’ll be welcomed into the pride.
With that, he took a step away from the Pridelands, gazing over his shoulder at the black lioness, feeling his heart skip a beat slightly. He knew he was risking a lot for a relative stranger. Despite that, he felt as if what he was doing was right. His parents would not be thrilled, and he knew that, but with a little persuasion they would surely let the lioness stay, Outlander or not. They would have to be made aware of the danger that came with allowing her to stay, but he was more than well prepared to deliver the word of the danger to them. The risk seemed minor, and the benefits seemed to outweigh the risk by a long shot.
Gazing up at the sky, Kijana moved further towards the border separating the Pridelands and the Vinelands, checking over his shoulder occasionally to make sure the lioness was still with him. After a few silent moments of traveling beside the captivating lioness, he spoke softly, What was it they sent you to do? The question was blunt, but not harshly spoken. He was curious, and aware that he would need to know the mission she was abandoning for future reference. As they moved along, and the prince awaited her response, he gazed up at the stars, Beautiful, aren’t they? One of my favorite things about being out at night.

Nyota once again remained silent as Kijana spoke. It was only polite and respectful. He was a prince... Because your heart is in a good place, conflicting with your training. There are two sides to everyone, both good and bad. I don’t believe we should judge someone for what they were taught, but what we see in them ourselves. Nyota pondered this for a second and smiled. Kijana was right. You shouldn't judge someone by their training, but their heart. She gazed at him as he continued. Ah, my wonderful parents. [/b] Nyota couldn't help but giggle at that. They’ll be angry, but they are almost always angry with me. It makes no bit of difference to me what they think nor say. If it’s a problem, we can simply go elsewhere on our own. However, I don’t think it will come to that. I’m sure you’ll be welcomed into the pride. She drank in Kijana's words. He was willing to leave the safety of his pride to protect her! When Kijana began to walk towards the vinelands, Nyota ran after him. She walked teasingly backwards in front of him for a short while before settling in by his side. After they were quite near the border, Nyota was shocked by what Kijana asked. What was it they sent you to do? Nyota paused as she wondered if she should answer him. There was no sign of harshness in his tone, so she decided it was alright. If he wanted to hurt her in any way, he already would have. Before she could speak, though, Kijana added a comment. Beautiful, aren’t they? One of my favorite things about being out at night. Nyota followed his gaze and smiled. The stars. Indeed they are. They shine like the face of a lioness I remeber. She was remebering the face of her true mother, the one who gave birth to her. She shook her head as she remebered Kijana's other question. My mission. I was sent to do what Kovu failed to do. I was to kill Simba. That last comment was hissed. She hated the idea that she had to kill the greatest king in all the lands. She looked at Kijana again to see his reaction. He was different and that was what she liked about him... Word Count: 386Key:My thoughts My words Other's words[/center]

The respect she rendered him when he spoke made the golden brute smile slightly. Turning a soft gaze to her and ceasing his stride, he settled back on his haunches and tilted his head, blue eyes catching hers before he spoke, Many have tried to take the life of King Simba, and none have managed to do so. Kovu didn’t fail, just as you did not fail. Fate is a tricky thing, dear Nyota. His genuine words gave way to a wisdom that was beyond his years, something that would surprise anyone that knew him within the confines of the Vinelands territory. To the prides members, and to his parents, he was a Prince who shirked his duties, who wanted nothing to do with what was expected of him. It was partly true, but not entirely. There were things about the aspect of being and heir to his parents pride that excited him, thrilled him to the bone, but the male knew he was in no way ready to take over should he need to. He was too concerned with gallivanting about, exploring, seeing what the world held for him. He was in no way ready for the responsibility that was so quickly being thrown onto his back.
Inhaling the sweet night air deeply, the brute closed his blue eyes briefly as a soft breeze blew across the lands, tossing a few tendrils of his mane about. The dark lioness beside him had spoken of a lioness. Opening his eyes again, he turned his entire body to her. They were safely in the vinelands by now, and he was in no rush to get them back home. There were still hours before the sun would begin to rise, and there was something eating at him. Her honesty drove him to spill to her something that he had not expressed before, Nyota, you must know, my parents have me in an arranged marriage, if you will. To some lioness drowning in her own sorrow. You know, I believe in making your own future with someone you love, not someone you were forced to be with. Pausing briefly, he exhaled slightly. The unhappiness tainting his voice when he spoke about the arranged marriage disappeared within the next sentence, You spoke of a lioness you remembered. Would you mind telling me more?
Interest crept into the tones of his words and he gazed intently at her. There were so many underlying tones to the outsider exterior and the complexity was urging him to know more. Some would claim he was foolish, trusting an outsider so quickly, especially when she had been trained and sent to kill Simba. However, his judgement of character was something he often prided himself on, and it was something he knew he had not picked up from his parents. He sincerely hoped they would listen to his words on this captivating lioness instead of immediately banishing her from their lands, and him at the same time. There was no way he would allow her to be sent out on her own, to fend for herself. Despite her training, she would not survive on her own if any outsider groups came searching for her.

Nyota listened in silence again as Kijana spoke. Many have tried to take the life of King Simba, and none have managed to do so. Kovu didn’t fail, just as you did not fail. Fate is a tricky thing, dear Nyota. She looked at him as he paused before continueing. Nyota, you must know, my parents have me in an arranged marriage, if you will. To some lioness drowning in her own sorrow. You know, I believe in making your own future with someone you love, not someone you were forced to be with. Nyota practically fell over at that news. An arranged marriage! That's awful, if not down-right mean. That's the thought that ran through her mind as Kijana finished his news. His next question didn't surprise her at all. You spoke of a lioness you remembered. Would you mind telling me more? She responded without hesitation. All I remember is a face and a scent. Her face was as white as snow. A single light gary stripe ran down her forehead. Light gray surrounded her eyes and the inside edge of her ears was light gray. An area of light gray also lay at the end of her nose, which was a reddish color. Her eyes were a beautiful sky blue. She was beautiful, the perfect picture of a queen, if she was one... Her scent... It was as sweet as lilacs with a hint of the warm milk she held. I remember I was with her for a little while, than I was taken to the dark lands of the Outlands. There isn't much more about her that I remember. All I know is that if I see her again, or even smell her, I will know it is her. Nyota turned and looked at Kijana. I'm sorry I don't remember more -- only that she is my true mother.

The description of her mother brought a soft smile to the male’s maw as he turned his eyes to her, She sounds rather beautiful. I sincerely hope you cross paths with her again. Rising to his paws again, he waited patiently for the black female to reach his side before starting once again on the path to his home in the Vinelands. As they got farther from the Pridelands, the Vinelands began to fall into a view. It was surely a sight to behold. As the pair grew closer, the dense jungle forest rose up to meet them, the bright hues of greens standing out in the dark of the night. Pausing at the entrance, he signaled for her to go in before him, and once she had entered, Kijana slipped into the jungle behind her, golden pelt disappearing from view of anyone watching from outside the Vinelands.
Once inside the territory, the temperature seemed to cool off instantly, being a wonderful relief from the heat of the open territories such as the Pridelands. Weaving his way through the trees, leading the black female deeper through the jungle area, the brute stayed silent so as not to wake any sleeping lions that were nearby. There were many places in these lands where the pride slept, and one never knew when they would stumble upon a sleeping pride member. As the golden male finally reached a break in the trees, he glanced over his shoulder at the dark female before moving aside and revealing an open area in the Vinelands. The grass on the ground was lush and green and led up to a small, moving stream cutting through the area and disappearing into the forest depths. The moon shone brightly through an opening in the overhead canopy, littering the floor with rays of moonlight.
Stepping into the opening after Nyota, he stood by her side and inhaled softly, gazing around silently for a moment before speaking, Welcome to a small part of my home. There are more places just like this one hidden away here. I’d be more than glad to show them all to you. Turning to look at her once again, blue eyes focused on hers, he stood there in silence, the sounds of the night floating around them.

Nyota sighed at kijana's reply. She sounds rather beautiful. I sincerely hope you cross paths with her again. I hope I do too. she answered. When Kijana stoppedand waited for her, Nyota made sure to match each of his steps perfectly. She gasped as she saw the jungle rise up before them, as if it were coming out of the ground. When they reached the entrance, Nyota noticed that Kijana had signaled her to go in before him. Though confused by this, Nyota complied. Looking back over her shoulder, she saw Kijana enter and smiled. She waited for him to take the lead and followed Kijana deeper into the jungle. As they walked, she noticed that he was avoiding certain areas and implied that they were areas were his pride slept. They came to an opening in the trees and Nyota once again gasped at the sight. Lush grass covered a clearing in the middle of the jungle. A little stream cut through the clearing before disappearing into the foliage again. Moonlight streamed through the leaves from the canopy and danced across the grass. As Nyota stared at the scene before her, something about it triggered a memory. She remembered, that as a cub, she had stared out through an opening in the den at a clearing similar to this one, only it had all sorts of animals standing in it, congradulating a large white lion. That doesn't seem right. No animal in their right mind would come that near a lion! Turning to Kijana, Nyota spoke. Kijana, does your pride get along with all animals or do you just hunt them? When her mind wandered, Nyota completely missed what Kijana had said.
